Please take a few moments today to reach out to Senator Wyden and ask him to co-sponsor S. 1892, the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act, and support bringing the legislation forward for passage during this Congress.

Several years ago, CASA of Lane County and other Oregon CASA programs lost all of the federal funding we had previously received through VOCA (Victims of Crime Act), leading to a reduction of children served statewide and wreaking havoc on services for survivors of crime.

Now, the Oregon CASA Network is supporting the work of OCAS (Oregon Child Abuse Solutions), who provides support statewide for Child Advocacy Centers. They are working to get Oregon Senator Wyden to co-sponsor The Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act, which would provide a temporary influx of VOCA funds. All our other federal legislators in Oregon have signed on.

To support this campaign, CASA of Lane County is partnering with the National Network to End Domestic Violence and other organizations focused on today as a National Day for Advocacy.

As part of this effort, we need your help!

HERE ARE THE DETAILS OF HOW YOU CAN TAKE ACTION:

Option 1: Contact Senator Ron Wyden by Phone
• Washington, D.C. Office - (202) 224-5244
• Portland Office - (503) 326-7525

Option 2: Contact Senator Wyden by Email
• You can contact Senator Wyden electronically below
• Your message can be very simple:

“I'm calling as a __________ (volunteer, friend, advocate, supporter, etc.) of CASA of Lane County to ask Senator Wyden to co-sponsor and support passage of S.1892, the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act. VOCA funding is critical to services for children who have experienced abuse and other victims of crime in Oregon. We appreciate Senator Wyden's longstanding support for Oregon children and victims, and we hope he will join the rest of Oregon's congressional delegation in supporting this important legislation.”

Please personalize your message if you can. Sharing what VOCA funding means to you, your community, and the children and families you serve can make the request even more powerful.

If you are interested, The National Children’s Alliance has additional information, talking points, and resources for the September 23 Day of Action here.

While the impact of this act would not be immediate, it is our hope that over time, we will see VOCA funds support CASA programs again. Additionally, this is a great opportunity to show support for the children we serve who have been victims of child abuse and neglect.

Thank you for your continued dedication to serving kids in our community and changing their stories.
