Even though winds will be lighter on Sunday, the combination of afternoon relative humidity values ranging from 25 to 35 percent and dry grasses and stressed trees will promote an environment prone to wildfire ignitions. Please follow your county or parish burn ban guidance.

A strong cold front will usher in very dry air today as relative humidity plummets between 25 to 35 percent with winds gusting out of the north up to 30+ mph at times. As a result, a Red Flag Warning is in effect with the threat of rapid start and spread of wildfires.

The burn ban has been extended again!! No burning allowed!!! Offenses are being taken seriously and tickets can and will be issued by law enforcement.

The Webster Parish Fire Chiefs Association has recommended that the Parish-Wide Burn Ban be extended for an additional thirty (30) days. The original burn ban issued on August 17, 2026 and renewed on Septermber 17, 2026, shall remain in effect for an additional (30) days with all restrictions, exemptions, and enforcement provisions.

The recommendation comes due to the Extreme Drought and Severe Drought Conditions affecting Webster Parish as per the US Drought Monitor. This, combined with the LDAF Fire Danger for today of Very High, the Red Flag Warning issued by the NWS causing Critical Fire Danger conditions through early Saturday morning, and no significant rain expected for the next week has increased the risk of vegetation fires for our parish.

As a reminder, the burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning such as campfires, trash fires, and any other open burning. This shall not apply to prescribed burns by the LA Department of Agriculture and Forestry. The Burn Ban shall remain in effect until November 17, 2026, unless modified, extended, or terminated earlier.

Severe to exceptional drought continues across our region, along with numerous Burn Bans. Please remember to check with your local, county/parish, or state officials before starting any outdoor fires.

A combination of ongoing drought conditions, low humidity, and wind gusts (up to 35 mph) will create conditions that allow fires to spread out of control quickly. Please refrain from any outdoor burning Friday and this weekend‼️

10/14/2026

A strong cold front will usher in very dry air on Friday through the weekend with relative humidity between 25 to 40 percent and winds gusting out of the north up to 30 mph at times. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect with the threat of rapid start and spread of wildfires.
