Thank you, Lake Laurel POA!

The members of Parkway Fire Rescue would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Lake Laurel POA for the sweet treats and generous monetary donation presented to our department.

Several weeks ago, a few of our members had the opportunity to lend a hand to the Lake Laurel community by helping clean out a culvert. While it may have seemed like a simple task, moments like that are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

Being in service means more than responding to emergencies. It means showing up, lending a hand, and being there for the people and communities we are so proud to serve.

Your thoughtfulness and generosity mean a great deal to all of us at Parkway Fire Rescue. Thank you for allowing us to serve you and for reminding us that sometimes the smallest acts of service can make the biggest impact.

We are proud to serve our community, and we are grateful to be a part of it. 🚒

Congratulations Eli. You’re a fine young man and a great asset to our department. Well deserved Sir.

CTE Student of the Month goes to Mr. Elijah Hughes! 🎉

The Mitchell County Chamber and Economic Development Commission are proud to recognize Eli Hughes as our first CTE Student of the Month for the school year!

Eli has completed CTE pathways in Automotive, Welding, and Food & Nutrition, while also exploring Drafting and Horticulture. He is currently completing a paid CTE Internship made possible through the NCWorks Career Center at the Mitchell County School Bus Garage. Through this opportunity, he is gaining valuable hands-on experience in diesel mechanics and preparing for a future career in the field.

Some of his teachers describe him as hardworking, dependable, respectful, and always eager to learn. His wide range of skills combined with his strong character make him a great example of the talent being developed right here in Mitchell County.

Congratulations, Eli! We’re excited to see where your skills and determination take you!

Parkway Fire and Rescue as two of our junior firefighters represent the department this week at the North Carolina High School Firefighters Challenge, hosted by the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (NCOSFM).

These two dedicated junior firefighters have spent the week demonstrating skill, discipline, teamwork, and commitment alongside peers from across the state in a demanding, hands-on training and competition environment.

Their journey reaches a meaningful milestone tomorrow morning as they complete the challenge and officially graduate from the program. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the way they have represented Parkway Fire and Rescue throughout this experience.

Congratulations to both of them on this achievement!

Come join us this week for fun for the whole family.

Tonight, our firefighters spent time sharpening their technical rescue skills by reviewing rescue rigging and mechanical advantage systems. These critical skills help our crews safely and efficiently move heavy loads, perform rescues in challenging environments, and provide the highest level of service to our community when seconds matter.

Continuous training ensures our members stay prepared for the complex emergencies we may face. We are proud of the dedication and commitment our firefighters show by investing their time and effort into learning and improving their craft.

Today, Parkway Fire and Rescue honors and remembers the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice and courage will never be forgotten.

We also want to recognize and thank all veterans past and present for your dedication, strength, and commitment to protecting our freedoms. Your service means more than words can express.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us pause to reflect on the heroes who made those moments possible.

From all of us at Parkway Fire and Rescue, thank you to our veterans, military families, and the fallen heroes we honor today.
