Cooler weather is coming, which means it’s time to prepare your fire sprinkler system for freezing temperatures. If your facility has a dry sprinkler system, regularly draining your drum drips is an important part of preventing trapped water from freezing and potentially causing damage or pipe bursts.

Preventative maintenance can help avoid a much bigger problem this winter. A few reminders as temperatures begin to drop.

Boyer Fire Protection is performing maintenance on an existing 400,000-gallon fire water tank that supplies an underground fire loop serving hydrants and several buildings at an industrial facility. With the tank scheduled to be out of service for approximately four weeks, our team recommended and coordinated the installation of a temporary water storage tank to maintain the facility’s fire protection water supply during the work.

Hats off to the owner for making fire safety a priority and investing in a proactive solution to protect their people, property, and operations! Thank you to our team and project partners for bringing this solution together.

For years, Boyer Fire Protection has helped support live burn demonstrations that show firsthand just how quickly a fire can spread, and the difference a properly installed fire sprinkler system can make. Pictured here is our President, Richard M. Boyer, 10 years ago, at a holiday burn demonstration, helping educate the community on the importance of fire sprinkler protection.

These demonstrations may only take a few minutes, but the message sticks: fire grows fast, and sprinklers save lives. We’re proud to have supported fire safety education like this throughout our history and to continue helping demonstrate the importance of sprinkler protection today.
