The statistics shared by Sgt. Stan Dooley, St. Louis County Supervisor of the Domestic Violence Unit, confirm what we witness in our office every day. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a life impacted by domestic violence.

- 11,969 domestic violence radio calls
- 102 stalking calls
- 16 homicides
2025
- 13,103 domestic violence radio calls

⚠️ What These Numbers Tell Us
Domestic violence radio calls increased by more than 9% from 2024 to 2025, while stalking calls also increased. Although reported homicides decreased from 16 to 11, these numbers remind us that domestic violence continues to be a serious and potentially deadly threat in our community.
Sgt. Dooley shared that his unit has five detectives assigned to domestic violence investigations and also oversees elder abuse cases. The unit averages approximately 40–50 cases per month, many involving serious felony assaults, strangulation, and life-threatening injuries.
We must create an environment where every survivor feels safe speaking up and seeking help, regardless of gender. Every victim deserves to be heard, believed, and connected to resources without shame or judgment.
