Future Ready Fridays: IMPACT Gateway Arch Field Trip

The IMPACT program took a field trip to visit the Gateway Arch on Sept. 18. The trip included exploring and learning in the museum, and soaring to the top of the Arch at 630 feet.

Students in IMPACT have been discovering the world of Western Expansion, and using the tools, information, and evidence presented in the Arch exhibits, they furthered their understanding of their seminar essential question, “How does the migration of people and the physical expansion of the U.S. expand or limit opportunities for individuals and groups of people?”

IMPACT students are future-ready, connecting in-class learning with real-world experiences, such as field trips and service projects.

Inspiring the next generation of educators!

Today, Lindbergh High School students joined schools across the nation for Be a Teacher Day! This annual initiative gives high school students a hands-on look at the teaching profession and connects them directly with the people, programs, and opportunities that shape the field of education.

Our CADET Teachers and Future Teachers Association members came together to explore how they can use their talents to make a lasting impact in the classroom and beyond.

In September, Lindbergh celebrated its annual Pink Out football game to support those with breast cancer. The Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band took part in the community event, donning pink (and a GoPro) for the game.

Elliana Cerven, LHS communications intern and junior snare drum player in the marching band, shared, “Band is about community; without community, the band crumbles. Although we’re commonly divided by sections, when we step on the field, for rehearsal, a football game, or a competition, we’re one culture. Marching band is defined by supporting one another and receiving support when needed. I can attest that we’re a family.”

The marching band played again this weekend at a national competition, Bands of America Kentucky. Out of 27 bands from across the nation, Lindbergh placed 10th in the preliminary competition and advanced to the finals with 11 other bands. Congratulations to the Lindbergh Spirit of Saint Louis Marching Band on their successes so far this season!

Earlier this week, fifth graders from Long and Sappington Elementary attended Gempp Days, exploring local ecology with experts from the Missouri Department of Conservation, the St. Louis Audubon Society, local volunteer naturalists, and Sunset Hills Parks and Recreation.

Students learned about forest management, identified bird nest structures and beak adaptations, learned how we can support migrating species, and discovered how butterfly gardens and native wildflowers keep our local ecosystems thriving!

Thank you to LHS communications intern Elliana Cerven for taking photos at the event!
