โฝ๐ CHAMPIONS ๐โฝ
A big congratulations to Kirkwood firefighters Eldin Kandzetovic, Kory Kohlmann, and Sydni Stevens for representing our department in the STL Guns Nโ Hoses Soccer Cup and helping Team Red bring home the championship trophy!
The event brings together firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and law enforcement officers from across the region for a great cause, raising money for The BackStoppers and the families of fallen first responders.
Itโs always great to see our members representing Kirkwood outside of emergency responses and community events. Even better when they come home with a championship trophy.
Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you for supporting such an important mission.

This week, members of your Kirkwood Fire Department participated in Trench Rescue Certification, establishing critical skills used during some of the most dangerous and technical rescue incidents we face.
Crews trained on trench stabilization, shoring systems, victim access, and coordinated rescue operations in confined and unstable environments. Training like this helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and effectively when every second counts.
Great work by everyone involved and thank you to Firefighters of Frontenac for hosting and MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute for making the training a success.

Crews responded this week to a reported smoke in an apartment caused by a small appliance.
Crews arrived quickly, located the source of the smoke, and ensured the situation was contained before it could extend beyond the apartment of origin.
One furry resident also needed assistance and was safely rescued from the unit by responding crews and reunited with its owner.
Great work by all responding personnel for a quick, controlled response and for protecting both residents and pets. ๐๐

This week, crews trained on vehicle stabilization and auto extrication using a variety of rescue tools and stabilization struts. ๐๐ ๏ธ
To make the scenario more realistic, a simulated patient was incorporated so crews could manage both the rescue and EMS sides of the incident simultaneously. This hands-on training helps sharpen technical skills, improve coordination, and ensure our personnel are prepared to respond safely and effectively when real emergencies happen.
Huge THANK YOU to McNamara's Towing for allowing us to train on their property and for providing the vehicles.

Your Kirkwood firefighters trained today on setting up a hazardous materials decontamination station as part of our HM-15 capabilities.
From establishing hot, warm, and cold zones to building out the decon corridor, this hands-on training keeps our crews ready to respond safely and effectively.
Weโre proud to serve as the home of HM-15 for St. Louis County and surrounding areas.

The Kirkwood Fire Department has extremely talented and knowledgeable members who are making a difference not only within the Kirkwood community, but also within the US fire service. We are extremely proud to share the accomplishments of one of our fire engineers who was recently published in Firehouse Magazine. Great job Fire Engineer Dan Davila! Dan's tenure and expertise as a fire apparatus operator shines through in this article.
Fire Department Pumper Driver/Operators: Stop Chasing Hydrants
Daniel Davila urges driver/operators of first-due pumpers at a house fire to prioritize tank water and tool deployment first, for less panic and more control on the fireground...

This morning we had the pleasure of sharing breakfast with some of our retirees and C Crew.
Great food, great stories, and even better company. Weโre grateful for the years of service, dedication, and friendships that continue long after retirement.
Thank you for stopping by and spending the morning with us!
