On April 13, the family of Emeshyon Wilkins released video footage of the brutal killing of their son.

Roughly two years ago, Wilkins, a Black 17-year-old teenager, was shot in the back of the head by St. Louis police officer Brett Carlson while running away.

Instead of investigating and prosecuting this clear criminal act by the police officer, what followed was a series of lies and misdirections intended to portray the victim of police violence as a threat.

Last night, four community members were arrested not for crimes, but for speaking out against St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer.

Too afraid to face the people of St. Louis, Spencer held an invite-only State of the City. Outside, the real People’s State of the City unfolded on the steps of City Hall, where residents gathered to demand answers, accountability, and investment in our communities.

They were invited inside. But instead of addressing tornado relief and the urgent need to rebuild North St. Louis, the mayor promoted downtown development schemes that leave working-class neighborhoods behind. When the crowd refused to stay silent, police moved in and made arrests.

The message is clear: the city will spend on policing and profit, but not on the people.

We refuse to accept it.

On May 1, we strike to demand:
👉 Rebuild the North Side NOW — fully fund disaster relief, housing, and long-term community investment.

👉 Recall Cara Spencer — leadership that ignores the people must be replaced by the people.

👉 Stop the state takeover of our city — reject the police budget imposed by the oversight board.

👉 ICE out of St. Louis — no collaboration with deportation forces, no raids in our communities.

No work. No school. No shopping.

The people make the city run, and we can shut it down!

🚨 EMERGENCY PROTEST: STOP THE WAR ON IRAN!

📆 TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 8
⏰ 5:30 pm
📍 Aloe Plaza, St. Louis, MO

Trump has given a deadline for genocide — either Iran surrenders by 8pm ET, or the country's "whole civilization will die tonight". This is the criminal threat of a madman, but a madman who controls the deadly might of the Pentagon war machine.

The people of the United States need to take a stand and say - not in our name! Take to the streets to protest Trump's genocidal assault on Iran and demand an end to the war now!

Money for people's needs, not massacres in Iran!

Join us in the streets at 5:30 PM TOMORROW, April 8 in Aloe Plaza

The Trump Administration, along with Israel, have launched an unprovoked, illegal war against Iran. In the hours following the attacks thousands across the U.S. took the streets in protest against yet another war.

On Monday, we will again answer the call to a coordinated national day of action!

This past Sunday, PSL St. Louis hosted a potluck and study of Angela Davis's book Women, Race, and Class in East St. Louis!

Throughout the study, we built community through discussion, good food, and connection. We finished the event by sharing Jevon Henderson’s struggle for justice against racist police brutality here in St. Louis.

At a time when Black history is under attack, it's important to study past revolutionaries not to just learn about them, but to take lessons from the struggles of their time and inform our work today. Special thanks to Sunshine Cultural Arts Center for hosting us to help make this work possible!
