Happy summer everyone, its been so good to see everyone again! Just a reminder that, while fireworks can be cool to watch from a safe distance, please remember that they are illegal to set off in the city of St. Louis. We’d love for you to join us on the upcoming 4th of July holiday but remember to keep the fireworks away from us. We startle easily! 🐢
Turtle Playground, St. Louis, MO
Please share your pictures and stories of our great landmark here for all to enjoy. The turtles were designed and sculpted by St. Louis artist Robert Cassilly.
Turtle Playground, which features three large and four small turtles, was officially opened in cermonies Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996. A joint project of the city's Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry and Forest Park Forever, it is a playground within Forest Park. The park was designed by architect Richard Claybour.

With the long Memorial Day weekend and absolutely beautiful weather in store for us be sure to make time to bring the family to Turtle Playground for some good old-fashioned outdoor fun and adventure!
We also want to take this time to remember our fallen military heroes who gave their lives in the protection of our country. Remember, all gave some, but some gave all.

What better way to celebrate the Easter holiday than yo spend it in the great outdoors with a few of your favorite amphibians?! We’d love to see you and your family this Sunday (or ANY day!) for a picnic and some climb-time with us! Looking forward to a great playground season this year!

We are so proud of our St. Louis Cardinals and look forward to an exciting season with them once again!
!
👏👏👏
We are ready for Spring and we are VERY ready for eager little (and not so little) feet to start climbing all over us again! Make plans to come by, visit, picnic, and just have a grand time at Turtle Playground again!
Just a quick FYI update on the status of Turtle Park from the St. Louis City Parks and Rec:
Thank you for reaching out. The parks in the City of St. Louis are open. However, playgrounds (including Turtle Playground), basketball courts, and handball courts are closed at this time. We will be sure to notify the community when other park amenities are able to safely reopen.

Unfortunately the park is closed until further notice due to the COVID19 pandemic and the city-wise stay-at-home order. During this time the turtles are keeping a 6 foot social distancing and, thanks to some handy citizens, they’re also masked! Please follow city guidelines for the parks closing and don’t forget to wash your hands! (Or flippers, whichever)
COVID10 update:
Turtle Playground is a part of the city of St. Louis' Parks Department and, according to that department, no city parks have been closed because of the current COVID19 pandemic. We are still open but please, please continue to observe the stay-at-home instructions and social distancing guidelines in order to keep yourself and your families as safe and healthy as possible. While we understand that the weather is quickly becoming beautiful on a daily basis and everyone is being asked to stay home we'd rather wait for everyone to be safe before coming to visit and play with us again! As far as we know turtles are immune but we CAN be carriers if everyone starts climbing all over us! Thank you and we'll see you soon!
We hope that everyone had a fabulous holiday season and we look forward to seeing everyone in the coming year. Take advantage of the warm weather this weekend and bring the kids and pets for some much needed energy release. Happy 2019 to all!
We hope that everyone has a fun, safe, and cool Independence Day celebration! We’d love to see you today but understand if you decide to stay inside or hit the pool.
We hope that you’ve been taking advantage of the great weather lately and bringing the whole family out to see us! And don’t forget Rover, we love dogs too!
