🦈 St. Marys Elementary is Proud to be Drug-Free! 🦈

Red Ribbon Week is coming up October 26-30, and our SMES Sharks are ready to make a splash! 🎒✨

This year, we love the theme: "Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free." 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

At St. Marys Elementary, we are committed to empowering our students to make healthy choices, support one another, and build a safe, drug-free community. We would love for ALL of our Sharks to participate in our daily theme days throughout the week if they are able!

Stay tuned for our upcoming spirit day schedule, and let’s show our Shark Pride all week long! ❤️🦈

🎩 Hats off to reading! Today was Mad Hatter Day at SMES! 🎩✨

As part of our Camden Reads initiative, our students jumped into a world of imagination and fun today! 📚🎩

Camden Reads is all about creating exciting opportunities for students to experience the joy of reading in new ways. By celebrating literacy throughout the school year, we hope to encourage our young readers to:

✨ Explore new genres
📖 Discover books they love
💡 See reading as something that inspires curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning

Thank you to all of our students and staff for bringing so much creativity and wonder to school today!

🐢🐍 Special Visitors in PreK Today! 🦀🦝

Our PreK classes had the best time learning all about the amazing animals native to our local area! The students got to meet a live gopher tortoise and a friendly corn snake, check out a horseshoe crab shell, see a taxidermy raccoon, and even touch real snake skin! Hands-on learning was a huge hit today, and we are so grateful to our special guests for giving our little learners such a fun and memorable experience! 🌿✨

Mrs. Carter’s 4th graders are trained using the Georgia ADOPT-A- Stream program. They will periodically collect data at the St. Marys waterfront for the University of Georgia. Today, the students along with a few parent volunteers walked through the steps of the experiments that will take place on a typical water testing day. They will collect data on the temperature of the air and water, the pH of the water, salinity, as well as the dissolved oxygen in the water. They have one experiment which is quite lengthy with 11 steps. They learned today how every detail matters. They watched chemical reactions turn solutions from light yellow to dark blue and then back to clear. They were amazing today! Mrs. Carter was so impressed with them!

✨ Happy Georgia Pre-K Week! ✨

To help us celebrate Georgia Pre-K Week, our Pre-K students enjoyed an extra special storytime today! We were thrilled to welcome local author Elizabeth Reagan Milo to St. Marys Elementary, where she read her magical book, Twinkle Town, to our youngest learners. 📚🌟

The kids were completely mesmerized by her story—and their eyes lit up even brighter when they discovered the special secret behind it! Mrs. Milo shared that Twinkle Town was inspired by the sparkling lights of downtown St. Marys, which she can see right across the water from her home in Yulee, Florida.

What a fun, inspiring treat for our students to celebrate Pre-K Week and connect a wonderful story with the magic of our very own hometown! Thank you so much, Mrs. Milo, for visiting us and sharing your story with our littlest readers! 💙
