🚨 SECONDS MATTER. KEEP HYDRANTS CLEAR! 🚒💦
When firefighters arrive at a fire, they need immediate access to a reliable water supply. A vehicle, trash can, fence, or overgrown landscaping blocking a hydrant can cost valuable time.
🔥 Please keep fire hydrants CLEAR and ACCESSIBLE.
🚫 No parking
🚫 No trash or debris
🚫 No bushes, shrubs, or landscaping
🚫 No fences or other obstructions
That few extra feet of clearance can make a difference when lives and property are on the line.
🚒 KEEP HYDRANTS CLEAR! 🚒

Capt. Jennifer Todd and Engineer Cissy Kelley walked 110 flights of stairs today to honor and remember the 343 firefighters who died on this day 25 years ago serving and protecting.

For many years, this tribute has been our way of recognizing and celebrating those lives and the many others who also perished in the days, months and years following 9/11 due to injuries and illnesses resulting from the devastation.

Let us never forget.

SMFD firefighters would like to thank our special visitors from St. Marys Elementary School who dropped off the beautifully written and decorated cards and artwork today showing their appreciation for those in the Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement services.

We have thoroughly enjoyed reading each and every card and sharing the special words of kindness.

On September 11, 2001, at 9:59 a.m. the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. Shortly thereafter the North Tower collapsed.

Through dust, falling debris and smoke, firefighters, police, military personnel and civilians carried one another out, returning for others, because leaving someone behind was never an option.

FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller was one of those. He said… ‘While we have time, let us do good.’
Firefighter Stiller did not make it home.

October Breast Cancer Awareness

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October, SMFD will be offering tee shirts for purchase. Proceeds will benefit breast cancer awareness and the efforts to find treatments and one day, we all hope,
a cure.

There are many of us who have in one way or another been affected and touched by cancer, and who know that it’s a long and difficult journey.

Please show your support by purchasing a tee shirt and joining SMFD firefighters in our quest to bring awareness, hope and encouragement to all who are fighting this terrible disease.

*Lost Puppy at SMFD St. 2*

Please help us find this sweet little pupper’s home and family. Firefighters were out and about this morning in the vicinity of Douglas Dr. and Martha Dr. and found him wandering around on the streets. He was in danger of being hit by cars. Fire department staff brought him to Station 2 for safety and to provide him with shelter and relief from the heat. We appreciate as many shares as possible to help locate his family.
