Staatsburg Library Where the community connects. The Staatsburg Library has been serving the community for more than 100 years.

It was used as a Reading Room in 1891 and was granted its first charter by the state of New York in 1894.

This Babysitting Course is a valuable training opportunity for youth ages 10-16 who are interested in becoming the next neighborhood babysitter.
Topics such as interviewing tips, communication skills, ages and stages of young babies and toddlers, safety, first aid, feeding and caring for young children will be covered in this course. Each future babysitter will also learn how to hold a baby and change their diaper.

Film Club - Experimental Documentaries
Thursday, October 15 at 6 PM

Staatsburg Library Film Club has started something special: a five-month journey through non-narrative cinema.

We kicked things off in August with Dont Look Back, D.A. Pennebaker's legendary portrait of Bob Dylan on tour in 1965. From there we move through the "essay film" genre in September featuring work by Agnès Varda and others, into experimental documentaries in October with Werner Herzog and others, before arriving in November for a rare and special evening of experimental short films spanning a century of avant-garde cinema. December brings it all home with one of the most visionary films ever made.

Join us for part 3 of our five-month series exploring the outer edges of nonfiction cinema. This month we’ll explore the weird and poetic world of experimental documentaries.

No film background required, just come ready to wander and wonder

Tuesday, October 6 at 6:30 PM
Turn your kitchen into a coffee lab with Willie Needham, a Culinary Institute grad and second-generation roaster. You'll learn hands-on roasting techniques using basic home equipment, then taste a specialty roast available only at this session.

The program is FREE - Bags of coffee from the Pawling Coffee Roaster will be available for purchase for anyone who would like to take some home.

Dig into a bowl of home-made apple crisp topped with ice-cream at this fundraiser for the Staatsburg Library, hosted by the Friends of Staatsburg Library.
There will be a GLUTEN FREE version of our apple crisp too!

Along with this fall treat we will also have live music by Karen & Bryan Tobias tobiasacousticmusic, coffee, apple c***r, and lawn games on the library’s front lawn. All goodies: $8 or less.
