👨🏻‍🚒Today, Standish Fire/EMS visited Edna Libby Elementary School for Fire Prevention Week👨🏻‍🚒
Teaching kids about fire prevention turns scary emergency situations into confident action steps. When young learners know the drill—like recognizing smoke alarms, planning escape routes, and knowing that firefighters are everyday heroes under those big helmets—they become active safety champions for their whole family!!

It’s hard to find the words to adequately explain the impact Lieutenant Kevin Warren has had on our department, our community and our surrounding towns. After serving for over 54 years, he has given thousands of hours responding to countless calls for service, training, maintaining (and literally building) our fleet and supporting our operations in just about every possible capacity. The amount of lives he has helped to save and the amount of property he has helped to protect is immeasurable. He has risen through each rank from Firefighter/EMT all the way to Chief of Department. In the next couple of weeks, he will step down as the Lieutenant of Engine Co. 3 out of Steep Falls station. For the first time in over 35 years, he will again hold the rank of Firefighter. While his formal leadership role will be coming to an end, we are extremely grateful that he will remain on the department and are confident he will still share his years of experience with newer members and keep an eye on our crews. At tonight’s town council meeting, LT Warren was honored with a plaque dedicating our new Engine 3 to his name for all he has given. LT, thank you from all of us.

Last Thursday, 100 students from Bonny Eagle Middle School participated in a Blueprint of Standish Job Shadowing Day at Standish Town Hall.

Students had the opportunity to explore a variety of careers through hands-on experiences with the Standish Fire Department, including training with fire department tools and apparatus. Standish Public Works was also on site to provide students with an inside look at the work they do, along with Standish Parks & Recreation.

Programs like this provide students with a valuable opportunity to learn about different career paths, gain real-world experience, and discover the many job opportunities available right here in their community.

A big thank-you to everyone who helped make the day a success and to the students for their enthusiasm and participation!
