Gearing up for Halloween, story timers and school kids have been making ghosts, putting faces on pumpkins, doing scavenger hunts, and reading not-so-scary stories. Stop by the library for a trick or treat and a book to read the 31st!

We hope you've had fun this week celebrating Winnie-the-Pooh! A. A. Milne’s beloved book was first published in October 1926. It was inspired by the stuffed animals Milne's son, Christopher Robin, loved to play with. These stories, illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard, have been embraced by millions of children and adult readers for generations. We've got books at the library!

Inspiration, hope, tenacity, courage -- these are some of the words that came to mind when listening to author, former Idaho State Senator, teacher, naturalist, community organizer, activist, and Stanley School alum, Cole LeFavour. If you haven't read their book, we have a signed copy at the library! Many thanks to Cole for reading and sharing stories. We appreciate all of our listeners, too!

"I'd do it all over again."-Marie Osborn. Last evening we gathered for Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association (SIHA)'s first oral history for their winter series.

Marie Osborn is an icon in Stanley. She faced and overcame many challenges: getting education, opening the clinic-year round-for residents and tourists alike, going out at all hours of the day and night while raising her children, and much more. She has such a strong spirit.

We're grateful for everything she's done for the community.

Fall celebrations and crafts are in full swing at the library. Students are making clay ghosts, storytimers are making pumpkins, and kids are testing their observation skills by finding the jack-o-laterns hidden throughout the stacks.

Of course, with all the fun, we find books to read along the way!

We're welcoming Cole Nicole LeFavour this Thursday to talk about and read from their memoir, "In the Arms of Mountains: A Memoir of Land, Love and Q***r Resistance in Red America." Cole spent part of their childhood at Robinson Bar Ranch and attended Stanley Elementary School for a time. They have lived much more than a lifetime's worth of amazing adventures and we look forward to hearing about some of them!
