๐จ Water Rescue Incident ๐จ
East Lincoln Fire Department responded to a report of a male subject in the water on the south side of the Lake Norman / Mt. Island Dam.
Engine 31 arrived on scene and confirmed one male subject in the center of the river channel without a life preserver, approximately 1/4 mile downstream from the boat access located at 8670 Hwy 73.
Ladder 31โs crew quickly deployed a Zodiac rescue boat from the nearby boat access, located the individual, and safely brought him back to shore. The subject was evaluated and found to be well and uninjured.
We would like to thank our automatic aid partners for their assistance:

Today, East Lincoln Fire Department had the honor of hosting the entire Kindergarten class from Catawba Springs Elementary at our Headquarters as part of their study on community helpers!
Students got a hands-on look at what firefighters do and how we serve our community every day. They participated in fun and interactive activities including hose line operations, rescue scenarios, and even a simulated axe chop. The students also had the opportunity to learn about our different types of apparatus and the equipment we use to keep our community safe.
These students were absolutely awesome, and we hope we inspired some future community helpers in the making!
Thank you to Catawba Springs Elementary School for visiting usโwe loved having you!

๐ซ๐ฅ STATEWIDE BURN BAN IN EFFECT ๐ฅ๐ซ
Due to increased wildfire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, until further notice.
โ ๏ธ What this means:
โข All open burning is prohibited, even if you already have a permit
โข No new permits will be issued during this time
โข Violations may result in a $100 fine + $183 court costs
โข Anyone responsible for setting a fire may be held liable for the cost of extinguishment
๐ Exception:
The burn ban does not apply to fires within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. However, the local Fire Marshal has the authority to restrict burning within that area if necessary.
We urge everyone to take this ban seriously and help protect our community by preventing wildfires. Conditions are dangerous, and even small fires can quickly get out of control.
Please stay safe and help spread the word.

C - shift took advantage of the beautiful weather this morning and trained on the correct set up of rural water supply operations. This training included correct set up of a multiple drop tank operation, correct fill site set up from a pressure hydrant, as well as engineers and back up drivers getting reps in establishing initial draft and changing over from booster tank to draft and back to booster tank without interruption of attack line flows. These tactics are crucial for areas in our first due response areas as well as our automatic aid response areas that have no fire hydrants.
