The Gladie Visitor Center, nestled in the Red River Gorge within the Daniel Boone National Forest, is your first stop for over 40,000 acres of camping, backpacking, hiking, and boating. There are over 100 natural sandstone arches within the Red River Gorge, and because of the multitude of sandstone cliffs and wall faces, this area has become home to some of the best rocking climbing in the world! Within the visitor center, you’ll find area information, safety notifications, trails maps, and souvenirs to commemorate your trip to this amazing natural area. Gladie has two short nature trails that will begin to introduce you to the wider world of the Red River Gorge. Make the drive to Gladie, and you’ll be in for the adventure of a lifetime…

Reptiles don't get nearly enough credit. Come find out why we love them so much! On Saturday, June 13th, we're dedicating the whole day to the world of reptiles and amphibians, with themed games, crafts, and hands-on activities for all ages running from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Join us on June 6th as we introduce you to the wide array of local flora as you take in the beautiful grounds and the surrounding area near the Gladie Visitor Center. This is a casual hike/walk and is open to all.

Visitors should park in the Gladie parking lot and meet outside the Visitor Center. The guided hike will begin promptly at 12:00 PM and conclude back at the Visitor Center at approximately 1:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to prepare for the walk.

Located near the Gladie Cultural and Environmental Learning Center, the Historic Gladie cabin is a reconstruction of a cabin that was built and lived in by the Ledford family, one of the first to settle in the Red River Gorge. Cabins built at this time were built by hand, utilizing chestnut, hewn by hand with a broad axe. Spaces between the logs would be chinked together using a mixture of mud and grass. Finally, white oak would be split into shingles for the roof!
