If you have moved or changed your address, please make sure your voter registration is updated before the October 5 registration deadline. This includes moving to a different address within Powell County.
If you have recently changed your name, you should also update your voter registration information.

The online portal to request an absentee ballot for the 2026 General Election is open!

You can request at elect.ky.gov or by calling our office during normal business hours at 663-6444.

September is here, and that means we are officially getting closer to the 2026 General Election! 🗳️
Our office is busy behind the scenes preparing for November getting ballots and equipment ready, organizing poll workers, preparing for absentee and early voting, and making sure everything is in place for a smooth and secure election.

POWELL COUNTY PROPERTY OWNERS

The Powell County Delinquent Property Tax Sale for 2025 property taxes is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powell County Clerk’s office (525 Washington St. Rm. 109, Stanton).

To prevent your 2025 delinquent tax bill from being sold to a third party, please make full payment to the Powell County Clerk’s office prior to the tax sale. If you cannot pay the full amount, we do offer payment plan options.

This is not a traditional auction where you instantly receive a deed to the property, but could result in thousands of dollars being added to the bill if purchased by a third party.

For information on the tax sale, please visit our website at powell.countyclerk.us or call our office at 663-6444. You must register to purchase any delinquent tax bills.

****REMINDER - In 2025, you received 2 property tax bills due to the special election that involved the school tax rate. Please make sure that you received both bills and both were paid accordingly.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Betty Neal.

Betty was a valued and familiar presence in our county elections for many years, faithfully serving as a precinct election officer. Her dedication to serving her community and ensuring our elections were conducted with care and integrity was truly appreciated.

Beyond her service to the county, Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and service. We are especially honored to see her daughter and granddaughter continue that legacy by carrying on her tradition of serving our community and working the elections.

Betty will be deeply missed, and we are grateful for the many years she dedicated to serving Powell County. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
