On Tuesday, I urged my colleagues to recognize Aug. 15, 2026, as One Million Degrees Day in the Commonwealth, recognizing the Pennsylvania State University's milestone of awarding its millionth degree.

From an initial graduating class of only 11 students in 1861, to now one million degrees, Penn State graduates have used their skills and knowledge to benefit the people and communities of our Commonwealth and beyond.

As Pennsylvania's sole land grant university, this milestone is a record of longevity, achievement, and impact that very few institutions in the world can claim.

Generations have attended Penn State and behind each degree is a unique personal story.

Thank you to my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for joining me in celebrating PSU's momentous accomplishment.

The Centre County Youth Service Bureau (YSB) is collecting donations of winter-weather clothing and gear for local families in need now through Thursday, Nov. 5.

Donations will support the Mountaintop Youth Center’s clothing closet and its upcoming Yard “Free of Charge” Sale on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8, where families can pick up winter essentials at no cost. YSB especially needs youth-sized snow boots, snow pants, and coats, but new and gently used winter gear in all sizes is welcome.

My district office at 216 W. Hamilton Ave. in State College is collecting donations on YSB’s behalf, or you can drop off items at YSB’s main office at 325 W. Aaron Dr., State College.

For more information, call or text Haley from YSB at 814-206-6037

It was a beautiful fall day for our second annual People, PAWS & PSU community health clinic! On Sunday, more than 50 carloads of people and their pets stopped by Centre County PAWS in State College to take advantage of resources for both their families and their four-legged friends.

Centre County PAWS provided 75 pets low-cost vaccines and microchips, while The Mobile Lion Clinic, with help from Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing students, administered nearly 40 free flu shots. We were also joined by students from the Department of Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences at Penn State and the College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State Landscape Architecture program who engaged with community members on a number of issues and offered educational programing about tick-borne diseases, tick prevention, and chronic wasting disease. Of course, my district office team was also there sharing all things state related, such as hunting and fishing guides, information on state wildlife and health-related resources.

Thank you again to all our partners and our neighbors who came out! Together, we’re building a healthier community for our people and our pets 🐾

Today at the State Capitol, I celebrated with Penn State graduate students and United Auto Workers (UAW) leaders on the recent ruling by the PA Labor Relations Board to include research assistants in their bargaining unit, and Penn State's decision today to not appeal that ruling. I'm encouraged by negotiations thus far and look forward to continuing to play a positive role in bringing both parties together in order to deliver a fair contract that improves wages, working conditions, and benefits for graduate students and their families.

This week, the PA House amended my bill reauthorizing the Rural Jobs Investment Tax Credit to revitalize existing EDGE tax credits in order to create incentives to generate more energy, invest in advanced manufacturing, and create thousands of good paying jobs right here in PA. It would also establish tax breaks for residential clean energy projects and a data center energy usage fee to directly reimburse PA utility ratepayers.

The bill passed the Pa. House with overwhelming bipartisan support and awaits further consideration in the Pa. Senate. Call and urge your Senator to support residents, businesses, and ratepayers.
