Yesterday, members of North Shore Rescue Squad proudly participated in the Memorial Day Parade as we joined our community in honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. πΊπΈ
We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside our fellow first responders, veterans, and community members during this meaningful tradition.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support the parade and help remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

As we close out EMS Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of every member of North Shore Rescue Squad.
This week is a reminder of what you bring to the community every day, not just during recognition events, but on every call, every shift, and every moment you step forward to serve. The work you do is often unseen, frequently challenging, and always meaningful.
Thank you to our EMTs, MVOs, and support members for your continued service, teamwork, and pride in what we do. Whether itβs a routine call or a critical incident, you show up ready, and that makes a difference.
As EMS Week comes to a close, letβs carry that same energy, professionalism, and commitment forward into the rest of the year.
Stay safe, stay ready, and thank you for all that you do.

π Help Us Equip Our Crew with a New EMS Bag! π
Every emergency call requires our team to respond quickly, confidently, and with the right tools in hand. Our current EMS bag has served us well, but after years of dedicated service, itβs time to replace it with a new, fully stocked bag that will help us continue providing the highest level of care to our community.
We are launching a fundraising campaign to purchase a new EMS response bag that will carry essential lifesaving equipment and supplies our EMTs rely on every day. From trauma care to airway management and medical emergencies, this bag will be used on calls where every second matters.
π― Our Goal: $650
π How You Can Help: Every donation big or small brings us one step closer to our goal.

βοΈ Blizzard Safety Tips βοΈ
1. Stay Indoors if Possible
β’ Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Whiteout conditions can make roads extremely dangerous.
β’ Keep family members, pets, and yourself warm and dry.
2. Dress in Layers
β’ Wear multiple layers of clothing, including thermal underwear, sweaters, and a waterproof outer layer.
β’ Cover extremities with hats, gloves, and scarves; frostbite can occur quickly in extreme cold.
3. Prepare Emergency Supplies
β’ Keep food, water, flashlights, batteries, blankets, and a first-aid kit handy.
β’ Have a battery-powered or hand-crank radio to stay updated on weather alerts.
4. Keep Heat Sources Safe
β’ Use space heaters carefully, keeping flammable materials away.
β’ Never use a stove or oven for heating, as it risks carbon monoxide poisoning.
5. Limit Travel
β’ If you must go outside, let someone know your route and expected arrival time.
β’ Keep your phone charged, and bring a car emergency kit if driving is unavoidable.
6. Protect Your Home
β’ Insulate windows and doors, and keep a supply of salt or sand to reduce slips on ice.
β’ Prevent pipes from freezing by letting faucets drip and keeping a cabinet door open near them.
7. Avoid Overexertion
β’ Shoveling snow or walking in deep snow can be physically exhausting; take frequent breaks and donβt push yourself.
8. Recognize Hypothermia and Frostbite
β’ Signs of hypothia include uncontrollable shivering, confusion, and slurred speech.
β’ Signs of frostbite include numbness, tingling, or pale, hard skin on fingers, toes, ears, or nose.
9. Keep Pets Safe
β’ Bring pets indoors or provide a warm, sheltered area with plenty of food and water.
10. Stay Informed
β’ Follow local weather updates and emergency instructions from authorities.
