Today, we pause to honor the brave service members who gave their lives in defense of our country. Their sacrifice, courage, and commitment will never be forgotten.

On this Memorial Day, we also hold close the many veterans living with Parkinson’s disease. Veterans are diagnosed with PD at higher rates than the general population, and APDA is here to support them with resources, community, and hope.

To all who have served — and to the families who carry their legacy — we thank you. Today and always, we remember.

Música alegre, no triste.”

Taiko drumming at the Buddhist Temple in Tacoma, WA with the APDA Northwest Chapter on Saturday was fantastic!

According to an NIH study, by combining rhythmic auditory stimulation, aerobic exertion, and large-amplitude movements, drumming helps stimulate the basal ganglia, which in turn can improve walking gait, balance, upper-limb mobility, and symptom control, while boosting mood and social well-being. Evidenced by the smiles and enthusiasm seen on Saturday, we think they may be on to something! (📢 SOUND ON for the video!)
