🌽🍅🥕 Today at the Rotary Club of Statesville, Rotarian Jennifer Barraclough, Executive Director of the Iredell Council on Aging, introduced Brianna Smoot, Director of Community Impact & Engagement, who shared information about the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
The SFMNP helps eligible older adults access fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey while supporting local farmers and farmers markets. Through the program, qualified seniors receive vouchers that can be used at participating farmers markets throughout the summer, helping improve nutrition while strengthening our local agricultural community.
Thank you, Brianna, for sharing about this valuable program and the many ways the Iredell Council on Aging serves older adults across Iredell County!

🌎🇱🇰 Rotary friendships truly span the globe!
This week, the Rotary Club of Statesville had the privilege of welcoming Rotarians from District 3220 in Sri Lanka as part of their visit to the United States. During their stay, they experienced American hospitality firsthand by staying with host families and exploring some of our region’s most unique destinations.
Their journey included visits to Rotary International Headquarters in Chicago, the Paul Harris family home, the U.S. National Whitewater Center, the Schiele Museum, and even a night of dancing at Coyote Joe’s in Charlotte!
The Rotary Club of Statesville was honored to host Jegan Mahendran for dinner and to receive the District 3220 club banner as a symbol of the friendship and connection between our clubs.
Rotary reminds us that while we may come from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, we are united in service above self and in our commitment to building a better world.

What happens when resilience, honesty and a heart for serving others all come together in one story? You get a speaker like Callie Farmer.
Yesterday at the Rotary Club of Statesville, Callie shared her presentation, “How I Transformed Struggle Into Service,” and she had the room engaged from beginning to end. Through personal stories, hard-earned lessons, and moments that made us reflect, Callie reminded us that some of the most meaningful ways we help others are born out of the challenges we’ve faced ourselves.
Thank you, Callie, for sharing your journey with authenticity, courage, and heart!
