The Board of Elections is responsible for supervising voter registration and conducting all elections Each County in North Carolina has a Board of Elections.

It is a five person board which is appointed every two years by the State Board of Elections. North Carolina General Statute §163-30 states “The State chairman of each political party shall have the right to recommend to the State Board of Elections five registered voters in each county for appointment to the board of elections for that county.
