Swift Water Training

On Sunday, our crews, along with members of Leasburg Fire, participated in a Swift Water Rescue Training.

Throughout the training, crews worked on essential skills, techniques, and safety procedures to help ensure they are prepared to perform safe and effective water rescue operations when called upon. Training covered a variety of scenarios, from single-person rescues to rope-based rescue techniques.

The knowledge and hands-on experience gained during this training will better prepare our crews to respond to water-related emergencies throughout the areas covered by our district.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Brett Bailey for taking the time to train with us and demonstrate the proper techniques for safely handling emergency situations on the water. Your time, knowledge, and expertise are greatly appreciated.

We would also like to thank Leasburg Fire for joining us and participating in the training. We appreciate the opportunity to train alongside neighboring departments and continue working together to better serve our communities.

Thanks Lt Jacob Trautwein

AS WE REMEMBER
September 11, 2001

You remember the moment you heard.

You remember where you were standing.
You remember who you were with.
You remember the exact thing you were doing.

For so many of us, those memories have never faded.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a horrific day that changed our country and our world forever.

We remember the thousands of innocent lives that were taken that day. We remember the mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, friends, and loved ones who never made it home.

And we remember the heroes.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, emergency workers, military personnel, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger while others were running away.

They answered the call without knowing what they would face. Many made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in an effort to save others.

They were someone's loved one.
They were someone's friend.
They were someone's hero.

Thousands of families were changed forever that day. Empty chairs were left at dinner tables. Phone calls were never answered. Hugs and goodbyes that morning became memories that families would carry for the rest of their lives.

Our country stopped.

The world watched.

We waited, prayed, hoped, and searched for answers as the events unfolded before our eyes.

And then something powerful happened.

In the midst of unimaginable tragedy, people came together.

Neighbors helped neighbors. Strangers helped strangers. Communities opened their hearts. First responders worked tirelessly. People stood together, held one another, and offered whatever help they could.

Flags appeared everywhere.

People gathered in prayer.

We prayed for peace.
We prayed for strength.
We prayed for comfort.
We prayed for the families who had lost so much.

For a moment, the things that divided us seemed smaller than the things that united us.

We were Americans.
We were neighbors.
We were one nation standing together.

Twenty-five years have passed, but we still remember.

We remember the innocent lives lost.

We remember the heroes who answered the call.

We remember the firefighters and first responders who gave everything they had.

We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.

We remember the courage of those who ran toward the danger.

We remember the kindness of those who reached out to help.

We remember a nation that stood together in the face of tragedy.

And most importantly, we remember that behind every name was a life, a family, a story, and someone who was loved.

Time may move forward, but remembrance keeps their stories alive.
AS WE REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
Today, we pause.
We honor their lives.
We honor their courage.
We honor their sacrifice.
We honor the families who continue to carry their memories.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

May we never forget September 11, 2001.

May we never forget the lives lost.
May we never forget the heroes.
May we never forget the sacrifice.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
AS WE REMEMBER — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

This weekend, several members of our fire department had the privilege of attending a School Bus Motor Vehicle Accident Training in Owensville.
The training began Friday evening with a classroom portion, where our firefighters learned essential techniques and procedures for responding to school bus accidents. On Sunday morning through the afternoon, our crews put their knowledge and skills to the test through hands-on training scenarios.
The training consisted of two different scenarios:
• School bus rollover
• Vehicle lodged underneath a school bus
During these scenarios, our firefighters practiced safe and effective extrication techniques, learned how to identify the safest vantage points, and gained valuable experience stabilizing vehicles in the most efficient manner possible.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Owensville Fire Department for organizing and hosting this valuable training and for allowing our crews to participate.
A special thank-you to Captain Keagan Sturheit for instructing the course and sharing his knowledge and expertise with our firefighters.
We greatly appreciate the opportunity to continue training, improving our skills, and preparing to better serve our community.

Last Saturday, our department conducted our annual pump testing on all pumping apparatus within the district, including three tankers and four engines. This important process took approximately eight hours to complete and helps ensure our equipment remains operationally ready to serve our community.

During the testing, several of our crews also took advantage of the opportunity to conduct hands-on pump training, further strengthening their skills and preparedness.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Brian Long with Boles Fire Department for conducting the testing and providing the necessary equipment to make it possible. We would also like to recognize and thank the firefighters who volunteered their time to assist with the testing and training on a Saturday.

Yesterday evening, a group of our firefighters deployed to the river for boat operations training. Over the course of approximately three hours, personnel had the opportunity to strengthen their skills and enhance readiness for water rescue responses. Because river conditions are constantly changing, this training was valuable in helping firefighters adapt and remain ready to respond effectively, even in unfamiliar waters.

As the weather is warming up, remember to please stay safe on the river — know your take-out spots before you launch, bring proper flotation devices for everyone in your group, and stay sober while floating. Please keep a close watch on children while around the water, as accidents can happen in moments. A fun day on the water is a safe day on the water. Let’s help prevent emergencies and avoid unnecessary fire rescue calls by planning ahead and looking out for each other. Stay safe and enjoy the river!
