🎀💜 October is a month of awareness, support, and action.

This month, the Stephenville Police Department joins communities across the nation in recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month and National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

🎀 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH — GET CHECKED

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States, aside from skin cancers. Approximately 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime, and an estimated 321,910 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2026.

Early detection matters. Know your risk, know your body, and talk with your healthcare provider about the screening schedule that's right for you.

💜 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH — WITH SURVIVORS, ALWAYS

The 2026 Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaign continues the theme “With Survivors, Always,” with a call to move from awareness to action.

Domestic violence can affect anyone. According to the CDC, more than 1 in 3 women and more than 1 in 6 men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime.

This October, we stand with survivors. We listen. We support. We speak up. And we take action.

If you are experiencing abuse—or you are concerned about someone you know—say something. Help is available.
