A group of volunteers hoping to preserve and find new life for the Parker Memorial Building at Goerke Park is asking the city to formally recognize it as a partner.

Just to clarify, the membership we are asking for here simply means being a part of this very informal friends group made up of people who are passionate about this project and willing to help get the word out to family, friends, neighbors and whoever; not only for awareness, but also to encourage involvement.

No signatures or lifetime commitments necessary, just a list of volunteer member names and emails so we can communicate needs, thank you’s, updates, etc. Some may wish to participate further by volunteering for other tasks as the need arises.
We are grateful for all the involvement last year, writing letters, signing petition, helping to get those signatures, taking the Parks Dept survey, attending meetings, speaking at those meetings and in all the other ways.

The first hurdle is over, the final master plan includes keeping the Ice and Hockey Rinks as well as the Parker Building, where they are. Let’s take it to the next level.

Please share the post to reach as many of our supporters as possible it will take a village!

We have some exciting news to share. Behind the scenes we have been working very hard meeting with architects, and much more.

We are looking for members to join us in very large project. The community is important to us along with all you who have supported saving both ice rinks and the Parker Building!

As we move forward the Warming House is going to also change, to better serve the park. We are remodeling and repurposing the Parker Building (Warming House) and will need your help. Details to follow!

If you are willing to help in anyway please comment below.

It is with great sadness. I announce the passing of Rachel Phillip, she and her son were a huge staple in saving the outdoor ice skating rinks and Parker Building. She leaves beyond two beautiful sons. Carl created our very own website.

Please share and let’s show our support in helping her two sons, in this very difficult time.

Please join me at the meeting next week May 6 if you used the ice-skating rinks and we’re desperately in need of the Warming House being open and for those of you that have reached out this past winter, please attend the meeting!

We are in need of the Warming House being open every evening during the week while possibly hiring one to two skate guards if need be. We would love to hear from you and all your input since this was one of the busiest seasons we’ve ever seen at the park using both ice-skating rinks.

See you all next week Wednesday with many updates to come!

The city of Stevens Point will need to make sure they take this into consideration for the future success of a new water park to be built in Goerke Park. Replacing our beloved Donald Copps Municipal Pool down the road.

Hats off to one of our supporters for sending this to me.

The potential closure of the Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center is drawing community attention. For more Local News from WSAW: https://www.wsaw.com/For more YouT...
