Three Mile Fire District Levy
Proposition for Additional Professional Staffing
What does that mean?
It means our residents deserve honest answers when they call 911. They deserve to know what kind of emergency response they can realistically expect. Emergencies will not wait until staffing improves. Fires will continue to burn, medical emergencies will continue to happen, and rescues will still be needed.
Simply hoping to have enough volunteers available when an emergency happens is not sustainable. It is not a public safety strategy.
The question isn't whether an emergency will happen. The question is whether we will be ready when it does. Will we have the personnel available to respond, or will we be relying on luck and hoping enough volunteers are available?
When you dial 911, don't you want to know that help is on the way?
This is the reality we all face as residents of the Three Mile Fire District. We all want what's best for our families, friends, and neighbors.
We need to recognize that our current level of protection is inadequate and that this issue deserves our attention now, not after something catastrophic happens. We have had an 88% increase in calls over the last 10 years. Voting yes is a step toward improving emergency response and providing our community with more consistent protection.
What does the levy provide?
The ballot refers to adding professional staffing, meaning 24/7 professional firefighter/EMTs. These personnel will strengthen our all-volunteer department by providing consistent coverage, faster response times, and additional support during major fire, medical, and rescue incidents.
What about the cost to our residents?
The last thing we want is to cause residents to spend more money every year. That is not our goal. One potential benefit of improving our fire protection is a lower ISO rating, which may lead to reduced homeowners' insurance premiums.
We say potential because we understand that not all insurance companies use ISO ratings when determining premiums. If you are happy with your current insurance company, that is perfectly fine. We simply want residents to understand that improved fire protection may provide additional financial benefits, depending on their insurance provider.
Ultimately, this is about more than insurance costs. It is about peace of mind. It is about knowing that when you or someone you love dials 911, trained emergency personnel are available to respond as quickly as possible.
We ask you to vote YES on the Three Mile Fire District Levy.
