Community Thread’s vision is a community where all people are engaged, enriched and connected. We maximize resources and volunteers to improve the quality of life for adults and their families in our local community. We do this by providing services aimed at older adults, particularly those who desire to age in place, as well as advocating for and supporting volunteers throughout the St. Our name symbolizes our belief that each act of service is a thread that ties people, communities and lives together.

An Afternoon of Music with the Bayport Library Troubadours
October 22 | 2–4 pm | Community Thread, Stillwater

Tap your toes, hum along, and let the music brighten your afternoon! Join us for a lively mix of rich vocals, talented musicians, and easy-listening favorites. Bring a friend, settle in, and enjoy a little musical magic close to home.

The Bayport Library Troubadours (BLT) is a twelve-member band featuring guitar, flute, keyboard, upright bass, percussion, harmonica, and fiddle. Named after the Bayport Public Library, where they rehearse every Monday, the group performs easy-listening selections proposed, and sometimes composed, by its talented musicians. With jam-band beginnings around 10 years ago, they’ve discovered a love for performing and sharing their music with others.

The Troubadours have a special place in their hearts for nonprofits and charities in the St. Croix Valley and the broader Twin Cities area. Outdoors or indoors, amplified or acoustic, paid or not, they welcome opportunities to help make community events special.

For more than 50 years, Holiday Hope has helped families facing financial hardship celebrate the holidays with dignity, warmth, and joy.

Behind every gift is a child who might otherwise go without—a kindergartner dreaming of a new book, a middle schooler hoping for art supplies, a teenager wishing for new tech accessories.

This year, we’re providing individually chosen, new gifts for children from birth through grade 12 in the Stillwater Area School District.
Your donation doesn’t just fill a wish list—it tells a child, “You matter. You are seen. You are part of this community.”

Donations accepted October 13–December 7 at Community Thread (Mon–Thu 9am–3pm, Fri 9am–1pm) and at participating downtown Stillwater businesses during their regular hours.

NEXT WEEK: CALM Conversations on October 21 at 11 AM

Many people at risk for su***de don’t seek professional help—but you can still make a difference. CALM (Counseling on Access to Lethal Means) teaches practical, lifesaving strategies that anyone can use to support someone in crisis. This 90-minute workshop is ideal for individuals whose work brings them in contact with people facing tough times—such as attorneys, bartenders, landlords, or instructors. No mental health background required.

There is no charge for this class thanks to a Vibrant Communities Mental Health grant from the Lower St. Croix Valley Foundation, St. Croix Valley Foundation and an anonymous donor advised fund.

We’re putting the finishing touches on an evening filled with holiday festivities and community spirit. Picture savory hors d'oeuvres, delicious desserts, impact stories, a powerful giving moment, and a live auction! Plus, plenty of holiday cheer, and the chance to connect with friends, neighbors, and local supporters in downtown Stillwater.

And don’t forget: Santa and Mrs. Claus—brought to life by Princess Paula and her husband—will lead us through the evening with the kind of holiday cheer and spirit you won’t want to miss.

But the best part? Every ticket helps support Community Thread’s programs and services—from Holiday Hope and transportation to Tax Assistance and opportunities for neighbors to stay connected throughout the St. Croix Valley.
