Donation equips Stinnett firefighters
A $34,935 donation from the Phillips 66 Borger Refinery helped the Stinnett Volunteer Fire Department purchase new battery-operated rescue tools to help crews respond to emergencies.
The set includes a spreader, cutter and ram. Stinnett Fire Chief Asa Woodfin expressed his gratitude for the donation. He said the equipment gives firefighters more tools to take to a scene and backup if another tool goes down. Without the donation, he said, raising enough money to purchase the equipment could have taken the volunteer department a couple of years.
“We’re here for the people,” said Phillips 66 Fire Chief Cesar Duran. “We’re going to keep striving to bring people together and better prepare our fire departments in the nearby area that are doing good business.”
The check presentation took place Oct. 27 at the Stinnett fire station.
