Last night at 10:46 PM, Stirling Fire Company and Millington Fire Company, along with Long Hill First Aid Squad, were dispatched to the 400 block of Elm Street for a reported vehicle fire.

Long Hill Police arrived on scene within two minutes, confirmed the initial report, and immediately advised responding units of possible fire extension into the nearby residence.

Stirling Engine 22’s crew arrived first and quickly deployed a 150-foot bumper line to knock down the fire. Millington Engine 11 arrived shortly after and established a water supply. Stirling Rescue 26’s crew arrived a few minutes later and began checking for any fire extension into the residence while completing primary searches.

Thanks to the quick and coordinated response of all the crews, the fire was contained to the vehicle with no extension into the house and no reported injuries. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes of dispatch.

Great work by everyone involved! 🚒

We would like to congratulate Stirling Firefighter Jeff Wanamaker on his retirement as a Captain from the Millburn Fire Department after 31 years of service!

Despite being a career fireman, Jeff still found the time to volunteer with our organization and give back to the citizens of Long Hill, doing both for the last 15 years. There are few people more passionate about firefighting than Jeff and he gave his all everyday. He has been a great mentor, friend, and member of our organization and he will be sorely missed.

We wish him nothing but continued happiness and success as he steps away from firefighting altogether and into retirement. 🎉 👨‍🚒
