Wow—what a month we had!

As we close out June and look ahead to our America 250 celebrations, we'd like to take a moment to showcase all the fun we've shared together at the library.

This month featured our reading kick off-Sprout a Seed program, Pete Becker's demonstration of the Stockton digital newspapers, our patriotic Painted Flag T-Shirt Day, engaging book club discussions, Story Time with Bella from Birth to Five, and so much more!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make June such a memorable month. Enjoy these photos capturing all the fun, laughter, learning, and community spirit. We can't wait to see you at our upcoming America 250 events!

🕒 Calling All Future Historians: Help Us Create a Time Capsule! ⏳

How cool would it be to send a message to a kid 50 years in the future?

To celebrate America 250, the Stockton Township Public Library is creating a special Time Capsule that will be sealed and kept safe for the next 50 years! We want you to be a part of it.

We have special "All About Me" info sheets available at the circulation desk. We’re asking our local youth to fill them out so that, when the capsule is opened in 2076, future Stockton residents can see what life was like for kids just like you in 2026!

What we want to know:
What are your favorite songs, movies, and foods right now? What do you want to be when you grow up? What is your favorite place in Stockton? And—most importantly—what do you hope the world looks like in 50 years? 🌍✨

How to participate:
1️⃣ Stop by the library: Pick up your info sheet at the front desk.
2️⃣ Get Creative: Fill it out, answer the questions, and show off your very best handwriting!
3️⃣ Submit: Drop it back off to us by July 30th.

We already have our first submission, and it’s going to be such a fun piece of history to look back on. Don’t miss your chance to leave your mark!

🌱 A Sprout-Tacular Start to Summer Reading! 📖✨
We had an absolute blast kicking off our 2026 Summer Reading Program, "Plant a Seed, Read!" yesterday!

A massive THANK YOU to Kelly Lafferty, Illinois Extension Educator for 4-H Youth Development, for stopping by to lead our "It Starts with a Seed!" youth workshop. 🧑‍🌾 We had a fantastic afternoon learning about seeds. We couldn't have asked for a better way to launch our summer fun!

Now that we’ve planted the seeds, it’s time to grow! Here is how you can join the Summer Reading fun all summer long:

⏱️ Read 30 Minutes a Day: We are challenging everyone in our community to read for at least 30 minutes daily.
📈 Weekly Growth Trackers: Stop by the front desk to pick up your tracker, where you can color in a bubble for every day you read!
🎲 Bookish Bingo: Looking for an extra challenge? Grab a Bingo sheet (available for both kids and adults!) to explore new genres, discover new authors.
