The San Joaquin County Public Defender’s Office wishes a fond farewell to Assistant Public Defender Patrick J. Smalling. After 17 years of dedicated service, he is moving on to become the newest member of the San Joaquin County Superior Court bench. His tenacity, commitment, and passion will be sorely missed at the office, but we are excited for the experience and wisdom he will bring to the bench.

Today the San Joaquin County legal community mourns the loss of CAC attorney, and former public defender, Vittoria Bossi. Vitto will always be remembered for her giant heart, and countless acts of kindness and generosity. She cared deeply about all of her clients and believed that everyone, regardless of their worst acts, was redeemable and worthy of being loved and saved. She was the ultimate true believer and will be missed by all.
