for State Assembly

Kounalakis is the third major endorsement Fugazi has received this week after DA Verber Salazar and Sheriff Withrow announced their support for Christina Fugazi for Assembly

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Jan. 9, 2020 — Ambassador and California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis has endorsed Christina Fugazi for State Assembly. On November 6, 2018, Kounalakis became the first female elected Lieutenant Governor of California in history. Lt. Gov. Kounalakis released the following statement in regard to her endorsement of Fugazi:

“A science teacher and city council member, Christina Fugazi offers voters in San Joaquin an opportunity to elect someone with experience both as a schoolteacher, and a policy maker. I am very impressed with Christina’s commitment to honest government, public safety and working toward innovative yet practical solutions to solve California’s homeless crisis. I strongly urge San Joaquin County voters to cast their vote for Christina Fugazi.”

The endorsement is the third major endorsement that Fugazi received this week. On Tuesday, the Fugazi campaign announced the endorsement of San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar, and San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow..

Fugazi is an award-winning educator and the founder of the Delta VISTA Academy at Venture Academy. She is a two-term Stockton city councilwoman, who is known for her no-nonsense approach to city governance. Additionally, she is chair of the San Joaquin County Rail Commission, where she is working to bring a rail system from south county to the Silicon Valley. She also sits on the governing board of the San Joaquin Valley Air Control District, where she has worked on a successful program to shelter old, polluting vehicles and provide individuals and families with affordable low-emission vehicles.

Assembly District 13 is made up of portions of the San Joaquin County communities of Stockton, Tracy and Lathrop, and the unincorporated areas of Mountain House, Thornton and Lodi.
