πΊπΈ HONOR & REMEMBER β OCTOBER 20, 1981 π€ππ€
Today marks the 45th anniversary of the 1981 Brinks armored car robbery, a tragic day in Rockland County history that claimed the lives of three men:
Nyack Police Sergeant Edward J. O'Grady, Jr.
Nyack Police Officer Waverly L. "Chipper" Brown
Brink's Security Guard Peter Paige
On October 20, 1981, these three men lost their lives during a violent armed robbery and subsequent confrontation with police that forever impacted the families, law enforcement community, and residents of Rockland County.
Today at 4:00 PM, members of the Stony Point Police Department will join fellow law enforcement agencies, family members, and community members for the annual remembrance ceremony in Central Nyack, at the memorial located near the entrance to the New York State Thruway at Mountainview Drive.
We gather not only to remember the tragic events of that day, but to honor the lives, service, and sacrifice of these three men and ensure their memory is never forgotten.
45 years later, we continue to honor their sacrifice. May they never be forgotten.
πΊπΈ We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.
