On 10/9, Stratford EMS personnel Paul Boyle, Enio DeVita, EMT Student Jason Amaya, and Unit 800 Yurksaitis, along with Stratford Police and Stratford Fire Department first responders, were dispatched to a report of a 63-year-old male in cardiac arrest.

Upon arrival, responders confirmed an unwitnessed cardiac arrest and immediately initiated coordinated Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) care.

Through the combined efforts of all responding personnel, the patient achieved Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) while en route to the Emergency Department, arriving with a sustained blood pressure and heart rate.

This response highlights the importance of teamwork, rapid intervention, and coordinated emergency care. We are especially proud to recognize 17-year-old EMT Student Jason Amaya, whose participation reflects the value of developing and mentoring the next generation of EMS professionals.

Continued advanced cardiac life support and post-resuscitative care provided this patient with the best possible chance of recovery.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient and their loved ones during this difficult time.

🚁 BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS BEFORE THE CALL COMES IN

Tonight, Stratford EMS Supervisors Mancini and Campbell and EMT Vadnais joined public safety drone teams from across the region at Long Hill Fire Department in Trumbull.

The mission was simple: know each other, know our capabilities, and know the resources available before an emergency happens.

Teams from Westport Fire, Oxford EMS, Trumbull Police, Derby Police/Fire/EMS, and other regional partners came together to share capabilities, expertise, and ideas about how these specialized resources can support one another through mutual aid.

Because the middle of an incident is not the time to start exchanging business cards.

Training together. Building relationships. Strengthening regional response.

Different agencies. One public safety mission. πŸš‘πŸš’πŸš“πŸš

πŸš‘ WELCOME BACK, PARAMEDIC MALYK CAROLINA!

Stratford EMS is proud to announce that Malyk Carolina is returning to SEMS as one of our newest Full-Time Paramedics!

Malyk’s EMS journey has taken him through several sides of emergency medicine. He began with AMR in New Haven, gained hospital experience as an Emergency Care Technician at Bridgeport Hospital, and joined Stratford EMS as an EMT while attending paramedic school. After becoming a paramedic, Malyk went on to gain additional ALS experience in the busy AMR Bridgeport EMS system.

Now, he’s coming back to Stratford wearing a different patch on his shoulder β€” Paramedic.

Malyk already knows our organization and our community. Now we’re excited to see what he brings to both as a paramedic.

Welcome home, Malyk. We’re glad to have you back! πŸš‘πŸ’™

πŸš‘ BRAVERY. COMPASSION. EXCELLENCE.

Last night in a beautiful ceremony at Stratford Town Council Chambers, Paramedic Jeffrey Jorgenson and EMT Josh Whittenburger were recognized for their extraordinary response to a life-threatening dog attack during the severe storm on July 21.

Facing an aggressive animal, flooding, lightning, and a critically injured patient, Jeff and Josh demonstrated exceptional courage, clinical judgment, and compassion. And their service didn’t stop with the patientβ€”they made sure her elderly husband, left home alone, was safe and cared for until family arrived.

Mayor Dr. David Chess presented a Town Proclamation, while (Yale)Bridgeport Hospital EMS Coordinator Leigh Goodman and Medical Director Dr. Douglas Latham recognized the crew for Excellence in Trauma Care.

πŸ‘ Outstanding work, Jeff and Josh. You represented Stratford EMS at its very best.

More than a call. It’s a commitment to our community. πŸ’™πŸš‘
