Thank you to the over 50 participants that joined us for tonight's Bat Night Program at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Participants had the opportunity to look and listen for bats during an early-evening walk along the Front Nine Trail on a perfect night to enjoy the refuge. Visitors then had the chance to learn about bats during a powerpoint presentation and interactive activity, before wrapping up the night with hot chocolate and marshmallows around the fire. Thank you to Kelly from the Pennsylvania Game Commission- Northeast Region for leading tonight's program and to the Friends of Cherry Valley for providing the refreshments!

Help us kick off the start of Bat Week this Friday October 23rd at 6PM with our free and family-friendly Bat Night Program at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge (2138 Croasdale Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360). In partnership with our friends from the Pennsylvania Game Commission- Northeast Region, we'll start off with a walk through the woods as we search for bats by sight and sound and then we'll head inside for hands-on activities to learn about the fascinating world of bats! We'll finish up the evening with hot chocolate and marshmallows by the fire. This program will take place both indoors and outdoors and involve walking along the paved refuge trail, so please dress for the conditions. Thank you to our wonderful Friends and partners and the over 1,000 visitors for joining us today for our 2026 Fall Festival at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters! We tried out a number of new activities and food this year, please let us know in the comments what you thought! We hope you can join us for next year's Fall Festival on October 16th, 2028!

Don't let tonight's rain fool you, we are still on tomorrow from 10AM-2PM for our annual free and family-friendly 2026 Fall Festival at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters (2138 Croasdale Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360)!

New activities this year will include an obstacle course, home-made ice cream, an inflatable BB gun range, and hayrides, as well as activities from previous years including apple c***r pressing, archery lessons, catch-and-release fishing, children's crafts, face-painting, fresh c***r donuts, fly-fishing lessons, hot dogs, inflatable hoverball archery, live animal presentations, live music, macroinvertebrates, maze, pumpkin painting, inflatable stick-it archery, and more!

Service animals are welcome, but pets are not allowed. No pre-registration is required.

There will a range of new activities at this year's 2026 Fall Festival at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters (2138 Croasdale Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360) this Saturday October 17th from 10AM-2PM. New activities include home-made ice cream, a trebuchet pumpkin launch, hayrides, as well as an inflatable BB gun range!

Activities from previous years including apple c***r pressing, archery lessons, catch-and-release fishing, children's crafts, fresh c***r donuts, fly-fishing lessons, hot dogs, inflatable hoverball archery, live animal presentations, live music, macroinvertebrates, maze, pumpkin painting, inflatable stick-it archery, and more!

Thank you to all the participants who took part in our mentored archery hunt over the weekend. Our partners from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Game Commission- Northeast Region and Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge staff and volunteers made sure that everyone had a wonderful time while learning about hunting safety, hunting ethics, and wild game processing and meal preparation. For those interested in learning more about sustainable food harvesting, we hope you can join us at the 2027 mentored hunts!

Looking to get your kids into archery but not sure where to start? A great way to get them into it is trying out our kid-friendly hoverball and stick-it archery, along with other free and fun activities, on Saturday October 17th from 10AM-2PM at the 2026 Fall Festival at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters (2138 Croasdale Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360)!

The trails and parking lot at the refuge headquarters will be temporarily closed this coming Friday October 9th and Saturday October 10th (beginning at 6AM) for the refuge's mentored archery hunt with the Pennsylvania Game Commission- Northeast Region. The trails and parking lot will reopen as normal on Sunday October 11th. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to educate the next generation of sustainable food harvesters.
