Sturbridge Police Department

10/20/2026

Greetings Sturbridge,

I am extremely proud to announce that the Sturbridge Police Department was once again awarded the AAA New England Traffic Safety Gold Award!

This recognition highlights our department's ongoing commitment to roadway safety, traffic enforcement, crash prevention, and public safety initiatives throughout Sturbridge. Earning this award comes down to the hard work and dedication our officers put in day in and day out to keep our community safe.

I also want to give a special congratulations to Officer Dominic Barroso, who was selected as a recipient of this year’s Traffic Safety Hero Award!

Since joining our department in 2025, Officer Barroso has consistently gone above and beyond actively working grant-funded Municipal Road Safety details focused on speed enforcement, distracted driving, and removing impaired drivers from our roads. He understands that proactive traffic enforcement is about changing unsafe habits and keeping our residents, visitors, and travelers safe before crashes happen.

Please join me and the rest of the Sturbridge Police Department in congratulating Officer Barroso on this well-deserved recognition!

In Safety,
Chief Dessert

☕👮‍♂️ Coffee with a Police Officer – Keeping Our Seniors Safe!

Today, Sergeant Sean Paine was joined by Sheri Bibinski, Vice President and Marketing Manager at Cornerstone Bank, for our monthly Coffee with a Police Officer event at the Sturbridge Council on Aging. This month's presentation focused on an increasingly important topic: protecting our seniors from financial scams, fraud, and identity theft. Attendees learned about common scams targeting older adults, warning signs to watch for, and practical steps they can take to safeguard their finances, personal information, and hard-earned assets. We extend a special thank you to Sheri Bibinski and Cornerstone Bank for partnering with us to provide this valuable information, as well as to the Sturbridge Council on Aging for continuing to host these important community conversations. Working together, we can help keep our seniors informed, empowered, and protected! 💙
