It's National Friends of the Library Week so we are taking a moment to honor our awesome Friends group. They are our greatest support and we hope they know how much we appreciate them. This place wouldn't have half so much magic without their efforts. Our Friends are looking for help moving and sorting books at the monthly collection, which takes place on the first Saturday of each month. This can be a great opportunity for our young people to get in some community service hours! Let us know if you're interested.

October 18th is National Work Bestie Day! So here's my homage to my work bestie, with a little Miss Wendy thrown in, who is a part of this group, but I can hardly ever get her in front of my camera!

Happy National Work Bestie Day to my work bestie Anna! I knew right away you were super smart and funny, but when you gave me your order of Jane Austen books, I knew I understood you and we were friends. I hope we always work together. Thank you for joining in my shenanigans, being the pink shark to my blue shark, proof reading all my stuff, being my personal reference librarian, reveling in library joy with me, and making me laugh every day!

Medicare Open Enrollment Questions Answered
Medicare Open Enrollment takes place every year from October 15 through December 7. During this period, Medicare beneficiaries can review their coverage, compare plan options, and make changes for the upcoming year. Choosing the right plan can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone.

This program is open to all Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, and family members who want to better understand their coverage options.

This coming Saturday October 10th is the last day to submit your story for the contest! There's still time!

Three years ago, we brought you the Scary Story Writing Contest. Two years ago, it was Return of the Scary Story Contest. Last year it was Revenge of the Scary Story Contest. This year we’re bringing you…

TERROR OF THE SCARY STORY WRITING CONTEST!

We’re looking for the scariest, most imaginative tales. Open to all students from Grades/Grade Equivalents 1 through 12. The top three stories in each age group will win prizes. Registration forms can be found at the desk in the Children’s Room. Stories with completed forms can be turned in at any library desk by 4 pm on Saturday, October 10. (To keep things fair, stories submitted AFTER Saturday, October 10 will not be accepted.)

Submission forms, along with submission rules, can be located here: https://www.suffield-library.org/children/scary-story-contest/ and in person at the children’s desk.

Thank you to the Friends of the Kent Memorial Library for supporting this and other programs.
