Technology is constantly changing, and so are the ways it can be used to harm others. AI can be misused as a tool for abuse, including creating nonconsensual intimate images, impersonating someone, monitoring or harassing a partner, and spreading harmful content.

As technology evolves, it’s important to recognize how digital abuse can be part of a larger pattern of domestic violence and harassment.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re continuing to share the numbers behind domestic violence and the ways abuse can take place, both online and offline. 💜

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, call our hotline at (631) 666-8833 or visit our website at liadv.org

Domestic violence doesn’t always happen face-to-face. Cyber abuse can include monitoring someone’s accounts, sending threatening or harassing messages, tracking their location, accessing private information, or using technology to control or intimidate a partner.

As technology becomes a bigger part of our everyday lives, it can also become another tool used to exert power and control.

These statistics highlight how abuse can extend into the digital world and affect survivors both online and offline. 💜

The presence of a gun can make an already dangerous situation even more deadly. Fi****ms can be used to threaten, intimidate, or harm survivors, and access to a fi***rm can increase the risk of fatal violence in abusive relationships.

These statistics highlight the connection between domestic violence and gun violence, and the serious risks survivors can face when fi***rms are present.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re continuing to share the numbers behind domestic violence and the communities and circumstances it impacts. 💜

High-profile cases and constant media coverage can bring difficult conversations, speculation, and victim-blaming. How we respond matters.

We can support survivors by listening without judgment, respecting their privacy, and being mindful of what we share online. We don't need to know every detail of a case to treat survivors with compassion and respect.

If you or someone you know needs support, you are not alone. Our hotline is available at 631-666-8833.

Women experience domestic violence at significant rates, and intimate partner violence can have lasting impacts on survivors’ safety, health, and financial stability. These statistics help show the scope of the issue, but they represent only what is reported. Many survivors never disclose their experiences or seek support.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re continuing to share the numbers behind domestic violence and the communities it impacts. 💜

This October, we are highlighting American Indian and Alaska Native people, and the prevalence of domestic violence in their communities. Because of limited data, there is no reliable nationwide count of how many Native women go missing or are murdered each year.

These statistics highlight the impact of domestic violence on American Indian and Alaska Native communities, while reminding us that many experiences of abuse may never be reported.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re continuing to share the numbers behind domestic violence and the communities it impacts. 💜

Domestic violence can happen to anyone, including men. Men can experience physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse, but they may face additional barriers to seeking support or talking about their experiences. These statistics help highlight the impact of domestic violence on men, while reminding us that reported numbers do not capture every survivor’s experience.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re continuing to share the numbers behind domestic violence and the communities it impacts. 💜

Domestic violence isn’t always physical. Economic abuse can include controlling a partner’s income, withholding money, creating debt, interfering with employment, or committing financial fraud. The impact can continue long after the abuse ends, making it harder for survivors to rebuild financial stability and independence.

Through our Vocational Advocacy Program, we provide services to help victims enhance their work skills to enter or re-enter the job market. VAP assists clients in identifying their employment goals and achieving long-term employment.
