Over the past six weeks, our newest firefighters have worked hard developing their skills in firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Yesterday, we celebrated the completion of their orientation with a badge pinning ceremony, marking an important milestone in their careers.

As they head out to their assigned shifts, their journey is just beginning. There is still plenty to learn, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and develop.

Please join us in congratulating them as they begin serving the Sugar Land community!

Charge your phones, tablets and other devices on a hard, flat surface, such as a table or desk. Beds, couches, and pillows can trap heat and block airflow, increasing the risk of overheating.

Use the cord and charger that came with your device, or a manufacturer-approved replacement. The wrong charger can damage the battery and increase fire risk. When in doubt, check your device manufacturer’s guidance.

The Sugar Land Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for Fire Prevention Week™, October 4–10. This year’s theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

Everyday choices can help prevent lithium-ion battery fires. Use your charging superpower: charge devices with the equipment made for them, keep batteries away from flammable materials, and unplug them when charging is complete.

We were happy to join our partners at the Sugar Land Police Department in this morning’s Fort Bend County Fair Parade!

It was great to see so many smiling faces along the route and help kick off another year of the Fort Bend County Fair.

Thanks to everyone who came out and gave us and Soapy a wave!

Last week, we officially welcomed Ladder 7 to the Sugar Land Fire Department with a traditional wash-down ceremony.

Ladder 7 is part of the City’s continued investment in public safety through the voter-approved 2024 Bond.

Thank you to our residents, City Council, and City leadership for your continued support and investment in the equipment our firefighters need to serve Sugar Land.

Welcome to the fleet, Ladder 7!

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the courage of those who answered the call, and the families forever changed by that day.

On this Patriot Day, we honor their memory and their sacrifice.

We will never forget.
