As we continue to shed light on National Pedestrian Safety Month, here are a few tips to keep our community and community members safe:

- Double check for pedestrians.
- Make eye contact with approaching drivers before proceeding into a crosswalk.
- If you’re driving around neighborhoods, schools and parks, drive with caution and be on the lookout for people who may be walking, rolling or biking.

On average, a pedestrian in the US died every 72 minutes and one was injured every 8 minutes in traffic crashes in 2024.
It takes pedestrians and drivers working together to prevent pedestrian injuries and death! Safer People Save Lives!

Heads up Sugar Land!

🚦 Heads up, Sugar Land! Big shows mean big crowds, and Smart Financial Centre is expecting plenty of both tonight and tomorrow. That could mean heavier traffic around the venue.

If you’ll be driving nearby between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m., plan for a little extra travel time or consider an alternate route.

It’s Feel Good Friday, folks! And this week we got a very special visitor at the Police Department! Kenzie's Kindness Journey came by to deliver thank you cards to our Officers, and we were so excited to have her choose Sugar Land Police Department as part of her journey! Officer Stockholm immediately recognized her from her page and we were more than happy to give her a tour of the PD! She even got the chance to sit on one of the motorcycles from our Traffic Unit!
Thank you Kenzie!!! Like you say “sometimes it’s the littlest things that matter the most!”

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

This month and every month, the Sugar Land Police Department stands with domestic violence survivors, honors their courage, and reaffirms our commitment to promoting safety, providing support, and raising awareness.

Domestic violence is not always visible. Abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, psychological, and financial abuse. No one should have to face it alone; everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued in their relationships.

Together, we can make a difference.

💜 Raise awareness and break the silence.
💜 Support survivors without judgment.
💜 Know the signs and speak up when it is safe to do so.
💜 Connect those in need with available resources.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), by texting START to 88788, or online at thehotline.org.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

You are not alone. Help is available. There is hope.
