Commissioner Andy Meyers Commissioner Andy Meyers serves as the County Commissioner for Fort Bend County Precinct 3.

Elected County Commissioner Pct. 3 in 1996, re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, & 2020 (Voted “Best Elected Official in the County” all four times the competition was held.) Held Financial and Management Positions with Occidental Petroleum, Texas Instruments, and Continental Oil, and was a real estate developer and a cost-control consultant for large and small businesses. Have held Certified Public Accountant, Series 7 Securities Dealers, and Real Estate Broker licenses. It has been my distinct honor to serve the residents of Fort Bend County as a County Commissioner since January 1, 1997. I have protected taxpayers by ensuring that their money is spent as prudently and as efficiently as possible. I led the effort to reduce the county tax rate from the region’s highest of 66¢ to one of the region’s lowest of 44¢, saving county taxpayers over $1 billion. I played the key role in making Fort Bend the safest and most family-friendly county in the state by initiating the county’s Sexually Oriented Business Ordinance, which has kept unsavory operations out of the county and helped combat human trafficking.

Statement from Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers on Carmen Turner

Fort Bend County Tax Assessor-Collector Carmen Turner was indicted and arrested on federal charges alleging she misused taxpayer funds.

This is not Turner's first encounter with federal prosecutors. Prior to her election, she was indicted on federal bankruptcy fraud charges.

She was allowed to plead guilty to a reduced charge with one year of probation.

Her criminal history was public knowledge, yet some politicians including Dexter McCoy were willing to overlook that history, putting politics over principle.

Political loyalty should never take precedence over integrity, accountability, and the public trust.

See McCoy's video endorsement in the comments section below and the two press release explaining the two indictments against Turner.

Grand Parkway, Westpark Tollway and Fort Bend Parkway closures scheduled in Fort Bend County

Drivers traveling through Fort Bend County should be aware of several scheduled toll road closures, including lane restrictions on the Grand Parkway near West Airport Boulevard and a temporary shutdown of the westbound Westpark Tollway ahead of a major expansion opening.

Grand Parkway: The southbound entrance ramp from West Airport Boulevard toward U.S. 90 will have a right-lane and shoulder closure from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 23.

Westpark Tollway: All westbound main lanes will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. Drivers will be required to exit at Spring Green Boulevard.

The closure is in preparation for the planned opening of a new section of the Westpark Tollway on Sunday, Nov. 1.

The new section will extend from FM 359 west to just east of downtown Fulshear, allowing drivers traveling in either direction to bypass three intersections: Cross Creek Boulevard, Texas Heritage Parkway and Charger Way.

For motorists traveling into or out of Fulshear, the expansion will mean fewer traffic lights and a more direct route along the tollway.

Fort Bend Parkway: A full weekend closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, on the portion operated by the Harris County Toll Road Authority.

Southbound access will be closed from U.S. 90 to Beltway 8. Northbound access will be closed from Beltway 8 to U.S. 90, with all northbound traffic required to exit at Beltway 8.

Motorists should allow additional travel time and consider alternate routes during the closures.

It was a pleasure joining Thompsons Mayor Freddie Newsome Jr., County Judge Daniel Wong and Precinct 2 Commissioner Grady Prestage to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the new pavilion at G.W. Longserre Park!

This project was made possible through a partnership between Fort Bend County and the Town of Thompsons.

What made the occasion especially meaningful was the surprise announcement that the new pavilion would be named in Mayor Newsome's honor, recognizing his decades of dedicated service to the community. I can't think of a more fitting way to recognize his commitment to the people of Thompsons.

Following the ceremony, Mayor Newsome met with me and my Precinct 3 team to discuss growth and development, transportation and mobility, public safety and security, and other priorities important to the community.

I want to personally thank Mayor Newsome for his leadership, friendship and continued partnership. Working together, we can accomplish great things for the residents we serve.

Congratulations, Mayor Newsome, on this well-deserved honor!

Thank you to Thompson's Mayor Freddie Newsome for taking the time to meet with me, County Judge Daniel Wong and my Precinct 3 team to discuss the future of his community.

We had a productive conversation about growth and development, transportation and mobility, public safety and security, and other priorities important to Thompson and the surrounding area.

I value the opportunity to hear directly from local leaders about their communities' needs and how we can work together to address them.

While I am attending a special Fort Bend County Commissioners Court meeting today focused on economic development, my Chief of Staff, Andrew Van Chau, is in Pasadena representing Precinct 3 at the Southeast Texas Transportation Summit.

The work of serving Fort Bend County never stops, and neither does my team!

Today's summit brings together leaders from Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend and Waller counties, along with more than a dozen members of Congress and congressional staff, to discuss transportation and infrastructure priorities across our region.

As Fort Bend County continues to grow, it is essential that we have a seat at the table when decisions are being made about the transportation infrastructure that will shape our future.

I am fortunate to have a dedicated team that understands public service does not stop at the county line. Whether we are working on economic development here at home or advocating for our transportation needs at the regional and federal levels, our focus remains the same: making Fort Bend County an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
