🚨 FIRE SAFETY ADVISORY – ELEVATED FIRE DANGER 🚨

The Rio Grande Valley is currently experiencing hot, dry, and windy conditions, creating an increased risk for grass and brush fires. Under these conditions, a single spark can quickly develop into a fast-moving fire that threatens lives, homes, and property.

The Sullivan City Fire Department urges everyone to use extreme caution:

🔥 Do not burn trash, brush, or debris.
🚬 Properly dispose of cigarettes—never throw them from a vehicle.
🚗 Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass, as hot exhaust systems can ignite vegetation.
⚙️ Use caution when operating equipment that can create sparks.
🏕️ Keep outdoor cooking and recreational fires attended at all times and ensure they are completely extinguished before leaving.

Every resident plays an important role in preventing wildfires. Taking a few extra precautions today can help protect our community tomorrow.

If you see smoke or discover a fire, call 9-1-1 immediately. Early notification allows firefighters to respond quickly and reduce the potential for fire spread.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep the Rio Grande Valley safe.

Stay alert. Stay prepared. Help prevent fires.
