We have very sad news to share. Some of you may have gotten to know Michelle Neubauer at her park programs and cave tours at Meramec State Park or Onondaga Cave State Park. Michelle passed away on August 23, 2026.
Michelle Neubauer, beloved sister, aunt, and friend passed away in her sleep on August 23, 2026. Michelle grew up in Hazelwood, Missouri. She graduated from Hazelwood West High School and received her bachelor's degree from School of the Ozarks.
Michelle worked for decades as a
Naturalist for the State of Missouri Parks system. She was a gifted swimmer, artist, and writer; as well as a prolific reader. She introduced her younger sisters to rock-n-roll and the fact that the only use for a seatbelt in 1975 was as a microphone. It must also be noted that her "Micky Fried Chicken" was a definite crowd-pleaser, with many extra guests at dinner when word got around. She was adored by her nieces and nephews and was truly one of the most genuine and kind-hearted people you will ever meet. Michelle was active in several groups over the course of her lifetime, especially Archon St. Louis.
Michelle was preceded in death by her parents David and Eileen Neubauer. She is survived by her sisters, Dr. Karen Neubauer (David Henke), Nancy Elledge (Ryan), and Susan Reynolds (Billy); as well as her nieces and nephews, Lauren, Alex, Sophia, Greta, August, Boone, Dillon; and her step niece and nephew, Shelby (Andy) and Ben.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 5239 West Florissant Ave., St.
Louis, MO 63115.
Donations in her name to Open Door Animal Sanctuary, 6065 Duda Rd. House
Springs, MO 63051, would be much appreciated as they have graciously offered to take in her cats Lijah and Awyn.
