It was a special evening at last night’s Town Council meeting as we recognized both a longtime member of our SIPD family and the newest addition to our team!

👏 Honoring Sergeant Christopher Wallace

Mayor O’Neil presented Sergeant Christopher Wallace with a resolution honoring his 27 years of dedicated service to the Town of Sullivan’s Island and the Sullivan’s Island Police Department. Sergeant Wallace retired in September, and we were proud to recognize his many years of commitment to our community. In addition, the department presented him with a retirement shadow box to commemorate his career. We are also grateful to LENS Sullivan’s Island for generously providing a gift card to Hall’s Chophouse in recognition of his service.

🇺🇸 Welcoming Officer James Couche

We were also proud to welcome our newest officer, James Couche, who officially took his oath of office administered by Mayor O’Neil. Although new to Sullivan’s Island, Officer Couche brings an impressive 31 years of local law enforcement experience to the SIPD team. We are excited to have him join our department and look forward to the experience, knowledge, and dedication he will bring to serving our island community.

Please join us in thanking Sergeant Wallace for his outstanding service and welcoming Officer Couche to the Sullivan’s Island Police Department!

The Sullivan’s Island Police Department is proud to announce the start of our 6th Annual Christmas Bike Drive benefiting Toys for Tots, beginning Sunday, November 1, 2026!

Each year, our community comes together to help bring Christmas joy to children throughout the area. Last year, we collected more than 300 new bicycles, and this year, we’re asking our amazing community to help us beat that goal!

🚲 How can you help?
Donate a new bicycle in the box or pre-assembled and help make a child’s Christmas morning a little brighter. Every bike makes a difference! The only thing we ask is to avoid donating bikes that have hand brakes. Bikes with coaster-style brakes are much easier to assemble!

📅 Bike Drive: November 1 – December 14, 2026

🎁 Final Delivery: Monday, December 14, 2026, 11:00 am

📍 Delivery Event: Sullivan’s Island Town Hall, 2056 Middle Street

Join SIPD as we continue this special holiday tradition in partnership with the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for local families and children this Christmas season.

📞 Questions? Contact Chief Glenn Meadows at 843-883-5736.

Please share this post and help us spread the word. Let’s make the 2026 drive our biggest one yet!

One community. One mission. Making Christmas brighter, one bike at a time!

Sullivan’s Island Police Chief Participates in Roundtable Supporting Logan’s Law

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, Chief Glenn Meadows was honored to participate in a law enforcement roundtable focused on Logan’s Law, joining fellow law enforcement leaders and distinguished guests to discuss strengthening communication, accountability, and information sharing to help prevent future tragedies.

At the heart of the discussion was Mr. Stephen Federico, whose courage, perseverance, and grace in the face of unimaginable loss have helped bring attention to the importance of Logan’s Law. His willingness to share his daughter’s story and advocate for meaningful change serves as a powerful reminder of the people behind the laws and policies designed to protect our communities.

During the roundtable, Chief Meadows expressed his respect for Mr. Federico and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among law enforcement agencies. While strong communication and partnerships are essential to effective policing, Chief Meadows noted that there is always room for improvement. Learning from one another, strengthening information sharing, and identifying opportunities to do better are critical to protecting the public and preventing similar tragedies.

Chief Meadows also reaffirmed the Sullivan’s Island Police Department’s commitment to supporting collaborative efforts that improve public safety, stating that even a small agency can contribute to meaningful progress through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to protecting others.

Distinguished guests participating in the roundtable included U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche, U.S. Attorney Bryan Stirling, U.S. Senator Darline Graham, and Congressman Russell Fry, along with Sheriff Carl Ritchie, Sheriff Sam Richardson, Sheriff Duane Lewis, and other federal, state, and local law enforcement representatives.

The Sullivan’s Island Police Department extends its appreciation to Mr. Stephen Federico for his advocacy and his commitment to helping ensure that his daughter’s legacy contributes to a safer future for others.
