We recently hosted the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Sun Prairie class for their Community and Media Relations Day. They heard from local speakers who shared helpful information and tips, snacked on Liv's Drink Emporium treats, and had Beans n Cream Coffee for lunch.

The class also visited the Sun Prairie Media Center and learned about everything they offer for the community. What an educational program!

Are you set up for power outage text messages? These notifications let you know when a power outage happens at your property and when it's restored.

Log in to MyAccount, click Alerts, scroll down to Service, and add your cell phone number to Outage.

One of the benefits is that you don't have to call in and report the outage. Feel secure knowing our lineworkers got a similar message and are already working to get your power restored.

The winner of our public power Coloring Contest recently got a ride to school in a bucket truck! Through much deliberation, our judges chose Finley's creative interpretation of our 'U is for Utility' coloring page. Staff visited Finley's home and shared plastic hard hats and stickers before everyone drove to Creekside Elementary for class. We also want to highlight how wonderful the other entries were, . Well done, everyone!

We implement several methods for discouraging wildlife like squirrels, raccoons, and birds from interacting with our substations and wells.

In the graphic, we share some of the preventative measures added to a substation. Spinning, bright, and reflective items tend to impede animals, and adding shields or guards to equipment also helps.

Most of our wildlife power outages involve them chewing through or touching a wire and something else, which creates enough of an electrical disturbance to cause an outage.

If you would like to discuss this topic in more detail with our staff, please give us a call at (608) 837 - 5500 or email us at [email protected]!

Have you tried the Megawatt Mocha yet? We partnered with Beans n Cream Coffee to brainstorm a special drink for Public Power Month.

The pumpkin, chocolate, and white espresso drink is available at the two locations only this October. This opportunity provides a fun fall activity for our utility, and hopefully our customers too.

Our staff came up with several names and voted on their favorites. Then the local coffee roaster designed the flavors and brought it to life.

We hope you enjoy it as much as our crew does!

Our staff was in the community several times this week. They banded together to buy, cook, and serve food with Sunshine Place at Sunshine Supper on Monday. We shared 536 meals within an hour and 40 minutes!

Our crew also visited the Sun Prairie Public Library Wednesday morning. Kids listened to our communications coordinator as they read 'If I Were a Lineworker', and got to take home a free book, stickers, and a plastic hard hat. They also had the opportunity to explore one of our bucket trucks with a lineworker! .
