Did You Know Sun Valley General Improvement District Is Not Just Your Water Company
The Sun Valley General Improvement District (District) provides and oversees a range of essential community services, including water, sewer, garbage, and parks and recreation. As a result, customers’ monthly bills may include charges for multiple services and are not limited to water service.
Depending on the type and location of the property, most District customers are billed for water, sewer, and the parks and recreation fee. Customers served by private wells are generally billed for sewer and the parks and recreation fee. Customers whose properties are located within the City of Sparks, including the 5 Ridges development, may be billed for water, the parks and recreation fee, the Capital Improvement Project fee, and the City of Sparks Right-of-Way fee.
Waste Management bills customers directly for garbage and recycling services.
The District Board of Trustees and staff are committed to responsible financial management and work diligently to maintain service rates at the lowest practical levels while continuing to provide reliable and essential services to the community. Customers are notified of proposed rate changes through formal Public Tariff Hearings. Notice of these hearings is provided on customer billing statements, the District’s website and page, quarterly newsletters, and in the public notice section of the Reno Gazette Journal.
