Please join me in congratulating Peggy Lagerman and all at Hair Happenings for 40 years of business! Peggy opened this Sunbury local business in 1986, and I was happy to present her with an official House citation recognizing her incredible four decades of operation at the anniversary celebration last Friday.

The Pennsylvania House has an opportunity to make a real impact on flood prevention and mitigation. I’m disappointed we’re letting down residents throughout the Commonwealth by failing to bring Senate Bill 403 to the House floor.

The bill, which would help with creek and stream maintenance, was re-referred in the House Environment and Natural Resource Committee yesterday. I was a strong no against the re-referral, and before the vote, reminded my colleagues in committee how influential Senate Bill 403 would be in protecting the people we represent from flooding.

Inaction today risks disaster for our communities tomorrow. Senate Bill 403 will go to the House Local Government Committee next, and I hope to see real movement of the bill soon.

I appreciated the opportunity to attend Northumberland County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting last week. While I was there, I had the chance to meet with students in Line Mountain School District’s FFA program and my colleague, Rep. Joanne Stehr. It’s always great to learn about and see the agricultural excellence we have in our communities!

Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in signing a discharge petition to push Senate Bill 403 out of committee and bring it to the House floor.

Senate Bill 403 would allow local government organizations to apply for a permit for continuing maintenance for streams within their jurisdictions. It passed in the Senate in March 2025 and has been stuck in the House Environmental and Natural Resource Protection Committee ever since.

Flooding is one of the leading threats to people, homes and businesses in rural Pennsylvania. Anything we can do to protect our communities from the devastation and destruction it causes is crucial. I was proud to support Senate Bill 403 in this way and hope we can give it the vote it deserves on the House floor.

I had the privilege of presenting 108th District resident, Chief Master Sergeant Tim Stettler, with a citation recognizing his service with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Tim will retire on Oct. 3 after 40 years with the PA Air National Guard and I wanted to be sure to thank him in person for the service he gave to our nation. Thank you Tim and enjoy your well deserved retirement!

I had the honor of presenting a House citation to Jeff, Rick and Chris of Coup Agency, recognizing their 100th year of business. They’ve provided insurance and real estate for the Milton community for 100 years and it has stayed in the family for the whole century. Thank you for your commitment to Milton and the work you do for the community!
