Today is White Cane Day.

Do you know what the White Cane Law is in Pennsylvania? When driving near a blind pedestrian who is carrying a white cane or walking with a guide dog, you must slow down, always yield the right-of-way and then proceed with caution. Be prepared to stop your vehicle in order to prevent injury or danger to the pedestrian. Failing to do so could result in a ticket and monetary fine.

Do you know what the White Cane is used for by someone who is visually impaired? A white cane is a device used by many people who are visually impaired to scan their surroundings for obstacles. It is a sign of independence.
