What if wastewater facilities could remove phosphate effectively without relying on bulk ferric chemicals?
At the 2026 WWOA Annual Conference, AMS Business Development Manager Jon Cleveland will present a new approach to phosphate removal using SafeGuard™ H2O, which generates high-purity ferrate on site and on demand.
The technology helps facilities reduce chemical handling and deliveries, improve safety, lower carbon emissions, and potentially reduce treatment costs by up to 60%.
Jonathan will also share results from a third-party demonstration comparing electrogenerated ferrate with bulk ferric chloride for phosphate removal.
If you are attending WWOA,Join us to learn how on-site ferrate generation could offer a safer, more sustainable approach to phosphate removal.

Managing THMs can be challenging when levels fluctuate throughout the distribution system and conditions can change faster than traditional sampling can capture.

The AMS THM-100™ online analyzer provides continuous, high-frequency data on THMs and THM Formation Potential, giving utilities greater visibility into changing conditions and treatment performance.

With real-time data, utilities can respond more quickly, optimize treatment processes, evaluate THM mitigation strategies, and manage treatment costs while supporting regulatory compliance.

See how the THM-100 brings real-time THM monitoring into day-to-day water quality management. ▶️ Watch the video to learn more.

At in New Orleans this week, AMS CEO Rick Bacon sat down with Water Online guest host Angela Godwin to discuss how industrial water treatment is evolving as facilities look to increase water reuse, recover valuable resources, and reduce their environmental impact.

One example is hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a common water treatment challenge that has traditionally been treated as a contaminant to remove. The AMS SafeGuard™ H2O technology takes a different approach, generating a non-toxic stannous reagent onsite and on demand to remove H2S to non-detect levels while creating an opportunity to recover tin sulfide for beneficial reuse.

There is a unique opportunity to think differently about what happens to materials removed during water treatment, reducing waste and making better use of critical resources.

The AMS SafeGuard™ H2O in-situ reagent generation technology takes a resource recovery approach, generating a non-toxic stannous reagent onsite to remove Cr6 and H2S to non-detect levels while creating opportunities to recover tin-based materials for beneficial reuse.

For Cr6 treatment, testing indicates the resulting tin-rich material can yield approximately 98% purity after processing, with the recovered tin dioxide providing a pathway to recover tin and return it to the industrial supply chain. H2S treatment creates an opportunity to recover tin sulfide, a high-value material with applications in batteries, semiconductors, and other industries.

🌟 The result is an approach that goes beyond contaminant removal to help reduce waste and keep valuable materials in productive use.

Ferrate has significant potential across water and wastewater treatment as a powerful oxidant, disinfectant, and coagulant. Historically, its rapid decomposition has made it difficult to manufacture, transport, and store for practical use. The AMS SafeGuard™ H2O technology addresses that challenge by generating ferrate on site and on demand.
One promising application is biofouling control in desalination. In a study using algae-impacted seawater, electrolytic sodium ferrate reduced TOC by 82.9% and bacterial quantity by 92.3% at a 0.80 ppm dose. Additional testing showed that ferrate inhibited bacterial growth and prevented biofilm formation, demonstrating its potential for improved pretreatment and RO membrane protection.

Nitrate in groundwater can be difficult to address without creating another challenge in the process. Traditional water treatment approaches can require significant energy and produce waste streams that utilities then need to manage.

BIOBOX® Nitrate is a biological denitrification system that converts nitrate into harmless nitrogen gas rather than concentrating it into a waste stream. The process requires little water loss and is designed for automated, energy-efficient operation.

The technology has also been demonstrated under real-world conditions. At the Town of Gilbert, Arizona, BIOBOX Nitrate was evaluated at Well #22, where nitrate concentrations reached 26 ppm. During the demonstration, the system reduced nitrate to non-detectable levels.

Available in containerized and full-scale configurations, BIOBOX Nitrate gives utilities another practical option for addressing nitrate contamination without the energy and waste challenges associated with conventional treatment technologies.
