Are you ready for more new stuff at the Doris Padgett Public Library? (Of course you are!)

We're proud to formally announce that we've partnered with the Sunnyvale Garden Club and Sunnyvale ISD for our newest cool offering: the Seed Library!

Inside this lovely green cabinet donated by the Garden Club, (conveniently located right next to the gardening books!), you'll find packets of seeds for a wide variety of plants and flowers for you to take home and grow yourself! Just pick the seeds you want (limit 5 packets per visit please), bring them to the front desk to check out, then take them home and plant!

If you have plants you'd like to share with others, we're also accepting seed donations! If you'd like to donate, please check our website for more information about how to package seed donations. If you need help harvesting seeds, the Garden Club has handouts with information available in the Seed Library.

Thanks again to our community partners for doing so much to make Sunnyvale a greener place! Come by and make Sunnyvale grow!

Love playing Mahjong, but don't really have anywhere to play, or anyone to play with? You're not alone, and we're happy to announce that starting next week (October 20th), the library will begin hosting a Mahjong Club!

Join us every Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon (when the library is open) to meet new friends, drink coffee, and get in a game or two while you're at it!

While we do have tile sets and cards you can use to play, we strongly encourage you to bring your own if you have them.

Currently, we're focused on getting a place for those who already know how to play established, but we know there are plenty of people who want to learn! We're planning to begin offering lessons as part of the club soon, so keep an eye on our Facebook for more information in the near future.

See you soon!

We have a ton of new amazing things coming for you here at the library, and we can't wait to tell you about them! But today, we wanted to tell you about something we DON'T have anymore.

As of today, thanks to the hard work of our staff, the Library Board, and the approval of the Sunnyvale Town Council last night, the Doris Padgett Public Library will no longer be charging overdue fines!

Running a couple days late? Can't make it by the drop box tonight? No problem; bring it back as soon as you can for your neighbors to enjoy!

We also have some exciting changes to our circulation policy in the works that will give you more time to enjoy your materials and make your life easier! (You'll hear more about those soon.)

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. And hang on tight: you haven't seen anything yet!
